A pediatric surgeon is a qualified surgeon who has additional training in performing surgery on young patients, including fetuses (neonatal or fetal surgery), infants, children, adolescents and teenagers.
Because pediatric patients are still growing and developing, they are often more difficult to operate on than adults. These patients have smaller bodies and smaller organs requiring even more of a precise and measured approach by a surgeon.
Some of the conditions that may require the care of a pediatric surgeon are congenital malformations, such as cleft lip and palate, abdominal wall defects, like hernias, deformities of the chest wall, childhood tumors, like neuroblastomas and separation of conjoined twins.
- Orthopedic Surgery
An orthopaedic surgeon is a physician who specializes in diagnosis and surgical treatment of injuries and disorders involving the musculoskeletal system, such as hip replacements and arthroscopic knee surgery.
In addition to treating trauma to the musculoskeletal system, these doctors also deal with sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors and congenital disorders.
- Emergency Medicine
An emergency physician is a doctor who is an expert in handling conditions of an urgent and extremely dangerous nature. These specialists work in the emergency room (ER) departments of hospitals where they oversee cases involving cardiac distress, trauma, fractures, lacerations and other acute conditions.
Emergency physicians are specially trained to make urgent life-saving decisions to treat patients during an emergency medical crisis. These doctors diagnose and stabilize patients before they are either well enough to be discharged, or transferred to the appropriate department for long-term care.

This review is long overdue. I am writing this review now because I just so happened to speak with someone who is looking for a doctor who specializes in scoliosis and without hesitation I referred her to this great doctor. Dr Romano took care of my newborn (8 years ago) who was born with a clubbed foot. Dr. Romano basically cured my son through serial casting, etc. My child is a happy healthy 8 year old who is not only excelling in school, he is quite athletic! He enjoys tennis, karate, and soccer.. I honestly can tell you that I cannot even tell which foot had the problem. Thank you Dr. Romano after all these years!!..
Patient Beware! My toddler son was referred to Dr. Romano by his PCP. We called and they collected all insurance information over the phone and set and an appointment for just about 2 months later. When we got there they told us there was a little issue we our insurance and wanted to re-schedule our appointment. I assured them there was nothing wrong with our insurance as we had seen several other physicians and they all got paid with no problem, but they refused to see my son. Since I was confident there was no problem with the insurance, I offered to pay them cash until they get paid by insurance. They charged me $430 to see the doctor! When we went in an assistant physician said she needed an x-ray. Then another person came in and wanted to get paid before they take x-ray! I paid them another $80 before they did that! Then we noticed that only that assistant physician was to see my son!!!! I was furious, because the doctor sounded to be in the office and he never bothered to see my son! So, imagine my sonâs physician sent us to see a specialized doctor and instead we saw just an assistant doctor! This was also the only so-called health care entity that wanted to see money before they provide any health care. Even my mechanic takes care of my car before he asks for money! Doctor Romano seems to be a much better shoe-maker than a health care provider. The staff was arrogant and rude too. Will never want to see them again, let alone asking them for any health care!!!!
