Skilled, convincing, caring, considerate, thorough, and successful in doing a C3 anterior cervical dysectomy on my 87 year old husband . He and his staff were efficient and prompt when we needed them. Dr. Mayer was a great support for me as his wife and came down to speak to me in Sarasota Memorial Hospital as soon as the operation was over to explain the successful procedure and how to care for my husband. We highly recommend him.

This doctor was referred to me by my family member so I decided to wait two months to see him, meanwhile experiencing a lot of pain while I’ve been waiting. I then get a call the day before my long waited appointment that he will not see me since I was not vaccinated. Are you kidding me, the day before??? How unprofessional can you be? I am unable to get the vaccine because I have a blood disorder, asthma, tachycardia and other health issues. I met Dr Mayer under an Emergency brain need for surgery. I was immediately admitted to the ER with a terrible sepsis brain infection. Dr Mayer took my case on with perfection and sympathetic confidence to save my life. The results of these infections existed from a previous treatment of my rare brain disease which involves tumors, infections, and many unknown symptoms that are caused by it. I had been treated in a different hospital far away so it could not be treated in their ER. He saved my life! Not only once, but I again had more tumors appear that required my need for more brain surgery deeper this time! I prayed God would again guide this wonderful gifted Doctors gifted surgical hands! The absolute best in the Sarasota area. Would not let anyone else touch my back for any reason.

Dr. Mayer has a most pompous attitude and I really wonder why? His bedside manner is terrible. I went to him primarily for insurance reasons. Now I really regret it. I had a benign tumor and he botched it up. I notice that he is not busy at all and so has little experience honing his skills. His office staff is equally terrible. There are better neurosurgeons in Sarasota or even travel to find someone with expertise as Dr. Mayer surely lacks having any.

I have repeatedly tried to contact Dr. Mayer's office for an appointment. Seven times with one response; I returned the call and no reply. What kind of office is this where a doctor who is accepting "new patients" has an appointment scheduler who treats them in this manner? As a nurse, I find this unacceptable.

Had it not been for the compassion, skill & superior quality of spinal surgery & post-surgical treatment Dr. Peter Mayer & his staff provided me ~ I would have died 5 years ago this September.
