Dr. Peter Lloyd Rutledge, MD

I highly recommend Dr. Rutledge. He performed two surgeries for me. Both times, the surgeries and recoveries went very well, contributed by his skill set, compassion, and availability to me during entire process. As a human being, he has a genuine care for people as evident in his listening to people, not doing unnecessary tests, giving options, and providing a thorough explanation of procedures. I’m extremely grateful for ALL that Dr. Rutledge did for me and my family who’ve also been operated in by him.

Dr. Rutledge is thorough, patient, focused and listens so well to all my concerns. He is the first surgeon that I have ever had that had such a calm, easing manner. He was an angel in my life when I was going through so much. I have nothing but praises to sing about him!! Thank you, Dr. Rutledge for all you did for me!!

Dr. Rutledge did a very complicated surgery on me. He explained everything really well and the after care in his office made me feel comfortable in his treatment. I would highly recommend him.

I honestly cannot say enough to commend Dr. Rutledge and his staff. I recently had what is usually a very routine surgery, but it turned into something much more complex and Dr. Rutledge was more than up to the challenge. After a five hour surgery and five days in the hospital (for what I read online was typically a 45 minute outpatient procedure), Dr. Rutledge was there to support me every step of the way, every hour of the day. He was a daily presence in the hospital, sometimes visiting twice. When the nurses heard who my doctor was, I never heard anything other than how wonderful he is and how blessed I am to have him as my surgeon. The nurses would know and I couldn't agree more. He was responsive to me with all of my questions both in the hospital and when I got home, and he and his staff were always available to do anything they could to be sure I was comfortable. He was fine with a Sunday morning call from me when my antibiotic (for MRSA - yikes) wasn't agreeing with me.… He always treated me wisely, kindly and compassionately. I am truly grateful for the caring concern, professionalism, and expertise of Dr. Rutledge. I would imagine that many patients don't take the time to express their appreciation for EVERYTHING and I would like to do that here - Having surgery is scary and it meant so much to have complete confidence in my surgeon and to know without a doubt that I was receiving the very best care. I am truly grateful. The Fort Worth medical community is blessed by Dr. Rutledge and his amazing staff.

He did my gallbladder surgery and i just love the whole staff, but Dr. Rutledge is a very nice man and listens to you like some drs rush u out of there but him he will take time for any questions

Have been fortunate in life in that I don’t normally see doctors but once a year for a checkup. When my dermatologist removed a small lump on my arm and it came back as skin cancer, then my doctor visits became a more serious matter. I have been seeing this particular dermatologist for over 30 years and he referred me to Dr. Rutledge for treatment. This was quite acceptable to me as I didn’t think a long-term doctor would refer me to a marginal specialist and I had no desire to go searching on my own. Dr. Rutledge’s office called me to set up an appointment and I was able to see him on the same day. I was pleased that Dr. Rutledge has a bit of age on him as I figure with age, comes wisdom. He talks to you person-to-person and gently explains the path forward. He doesn’t blow smoke yet you can hear the confidence in his voice. The office staff is outstanding, setting up the various appointments and responding to my numerous calls. The day of surgery could have been tense but after I… talked to Dr. Rutledge that morning I had full assurance in the procedure. When I was in recovery, he spent considerable time in the waiting room talking to my wife which was greatly appreciated. Coming from someone who doesn’t like to be around doctors or hospitals, I feel fortunate to be in his care.

Just had triple hernia repair and so glad to have Dr. Rutledge,his super sweet staff and all the great care and kindness I received at Harris Methodist downtown. I was treated so kindly and with such concern that my recovery is going much faster than expected. Our family has been seeing Dr. Rutledge for many years.

Dr. Rutledge was a godsend for me. I had been suffering from four year long chronic pain when I ended up in his office discussing gallbladder removal surgery. I was nervous and in the middle of it all I moved to California to pursue music. After finding that nobody there could help me like he could, I flew all the way back to Texas just so I could be seen and cared for by Dr. Rutledge. I liked him because he was very honest and seemed to care for his patients much more than many doctors I had been through before. He removed my gallbladder with no complications and was there for me every step of the way. Great person and a great doctor, I'll always be grateful.

This guy has no business in the practice of modern medicine. He inserted a metal probe over an inch deep into a abscess on the thigh of my family member without any numbing of the area, not only once, but twice. My family member is a retired army veteran and obviously can tolerate pain, but the sounds he made upon this happening will stay with you a long time. All paperwork, phone calls, etc., that must occur to get the word out about this guy and get his license revoked will be my life’s mission!

Dr. Rutledge is an incompetent, useless, practice 1975 way of surgery and as he never learnt and step further, He caused harm his patients by using technique used in 70's and no surgeon in current era uses his awful technique that leaves patient with severe pain, and swelling and makes you disabled, he also uses large heavy mesh with major side effects, besides that Dr. Rutledge cuts lymph nodes without obtaining consent and tell his patients " I was worried about lymphoma" of course he is lying . In summary do not send anyone to him, The medical board shoud review his skills, as well as his honestly
