Dr. Peter Jay Sukin, MD

I was a patient when I was going through tough times in So. Cal and Dr. Sukin was phenomenal. He saved me from a very unethical and sadistic doctor who’d abused me and helped me intervene to protect myself. Completely ironically, when I moved back to South Carolina, I learned Dr. Sukin had also moved there so I saw him again to be tested for Adult ADD. When I eventually again moved back home to Tampa Bay, once again, I learned Dr. Sukin had moved nearby too when trying to get a copy of records. I’m tempted to see him again just to say hello because it’s so funny that we moved to the same places. I found him to be caring, rational, and has a great BS detector. He’s straightforward and the kind of doctor that tells you the truth, not what you want to hear, which is something most people need.

Dr. Sukin was very unhelpful in my treatment. He made my problems worse and insulted me in front of other patients.

The wait time is much lower than with other doctors I've been in treatment with. Dr. Sukin is very caring and is the only doctor I have seen (I was in treatment with four others since being diagnosed)that has me call in between visits to check in and let him know how things are going. He ALWAYS calls back. He always listens to my concerns and asks many appropriate questions to get to how I am really doing. He even will turn down the lights when I have a migraine. I started seeing him when I was in a day program at the local hospital and liked him so much I stayed with him. Even in that program, where he had to see several patients in a short time, he always took plenty of time with his patients and I never felt rushed.

I have been w/ Dr. Sukin for several years. He was my attending during an outpatient group therapy time and I stayed with him afterward. His wait times used to be hideous. I have actually waited for him for over an hour before. He has worked on this considerably and for the last 6 months or so my waits have been about 10 minutes.The only present complaint I have is that after all the years I waited on him I missed one appt. and was charged for it. I paid because he is a terrific dr.

I have had experience with many psychiatrists and Dr. Sukin is the most attentive, caring one that I have seen. He doesn't rush you out of his office, and I always feel like he has really listened to how I am doing. Also, he is not just a med pusher like many psychiatrists are.

I've been a patient for 10 years. I think he is wonderful.

wait time was varying, but usually slow. he wasnt very good at the med part but was good at listening. he would have made a better therapist then a doctor. he had you come in often but never really did anything at those extra appointments. :(
