Dr. Phyllis Naomi Spieler, MD

I am a retired R.N. and a long time patient of Dr Spieler. During the years under her care she consistently diagnosed my conditions and prescribed appropriate treatment. She made referrals when needed. Dr Spieler called to specialists while I sat in her office. I'm particularly thankful to her for sending me to dermatologist, Dr Tomich, when no one was able to heal the staph infection on both my hands. She told me, "Kathy, if Dr Tomich can't cure this...then it can't be cured." He saw me the next day and prescribed a medication which cured me. This had been a long (decades) on and off problem. I had seen many doctors and tried many medications. I very well could have developed flesh eating disease if Dr Spieler hadn't acted on my behalf. That's just one example of good medicine by a caring physician.

My daughter was dying. Call spieler for prescription for pain medication 5 times. Spieler never called her back. What kind of a doctor does that? My daughter was her patient for several years. Her behavior towards my daughter was beyond horrible. I was with my daughter at the time those calls were made. All of us nervously waiting for a return call that never came. Shame on her! She is a disgrace to her profession.

I am new in the area and had picked this office based on the reviews. Saw the doctor once. She was not organized at all. Had not read my medical records that she had 1 week prior to my appointment. The office was filled to the brim of paperwork (oatient info left out). No ise of technology except that which belinged in the 80's. Hand writes out all medical orders or blood test that need to be done but the front office doesn't have a copy. I was asked to write down my history instead of reading the doctor's notes that were sent to her. Then tge office goes on vacation for 2.5 weeks with no coverage. Ot's been 3 weeks 1st time i visited this doctor having heard back. Terrible terrible terrible service. Maybe retirement?

Have been trying for 4 weeks to get Medical Records, called daily, unable to reach a live person, have left messages and received no call back. Unbelievable.

Excellent physician......kind, caring & competent.

Dr. Spieler is a rare find in today's world of doctors being forced into being business owners first and care givers second. She really wanted to know me and take time to dig into my issues before she diagnosed me. I may have had a bit of a wait but people wait at good restaurants longer for a decent dinner experience. This is far more important. She is very thorough and has a great sense of care for her patients. I highly recommend her for anyone needing a Rhumatologist.

Dr. Spieler diagnosed me in only one visit after a prime Boston specialist said I did not have anything wrong with me...other than stress.Dr. Spieler really cares about her patients. She knows you by name and remembers to ask about your family, your job, etc. Yes, you do have to wait to be seen, but once she pulls up the chair, you are her only concern. Time is not a factor when you are with her. She has sometimes spent more than a half-hour with me. That is why you forgive the "wait" time to see her. Her staff is courteous. It might be better if they addressed the "elephant in the room," which is the "wait time" to new patients who have no idea why they are waiting so long. They don't seem to concerned that some patients start to get anxious as they go well over their scheduled appointment time. A little empathy and laughter could go a long way.
