Dr. Pranat Kumar, MD

In my experience, he was nowhere near being intelligent enough to justify his authoritative manner; he is just a product of his training, and even he knows that the smartest methods are being developed and practiced outside the country. Also, he failed to give me multiple setons when the condition worsened; an oversight which two other surgeons have told me was really basic. Sometimes when I would suggest really simple modifications which might make surgeries more comfortable based on past experience, he would visibly appear challenged and exhausted (sometimes even putting his face into his palms and sighing); it's very clear that he has little to no ability to customize treatments for his patients. Sure, if you're a naïve patient, you might think he "plays doctor" very well and will submit to him; but if you have much experience with medical professionals, you probably will see that he is another run-of-the-mill careerist who lacks the basic decency and wisdom to appreciate the fact… that he makes a six-figure salary because other people are suffering.

After being diagnosed with an anal fissure, this doctor prescribed the correct medicine, and discussed various treatment options. Although, his bedside manner was so-so, I figured that he was pretty good. After scheduling a procedure, I received a letter stating that Medicaid patients were no longer eligible for his services, because he missed a deadline to complete some paperwork. The office staff believed that this was a mistake, but my insurer stated that he was, indeed, no longer covered. The receptionists repeatedly transferred me to a NASTY woman by the name of Radika Jordan. After Jordan failed to return phone calls, I appeared at the office to discuss the matter in greater detail. Jordan chewed me out, LOUDLYspoke over me, and eventually called security unnecessarily. I have reached out to Patient Experiences, but neither the doctor, nor the higher ups have dignified me with a reply. The staff members are both arrogant and disorganized. It would be my advice to avoid… ALL providers at 21 Reade, Suite 3100. Find another doctor, unless you like being mistreated by these awful human beings. Also, I recently received a letter stating that some of my information could have been compromised, due to an issue with their computers (phishing attempt). This is just swell!
