I was referred to this dr by prentiss for a colonoscopy...I had to go back in a month for bleeding and pain..he did nothing...he is not a good dr stay away...HE ALSO ORDERS TEST THAT ARENT NECESSARY

Getting someone on the phone is ridiculous. The cashier in particular is VERY rude. I asked to speak to office manager and she very smart Ellic says Sure in a nasty tone and transfers me to Huntsville Hospital Switch board. Umm hello that’s not the office manager and you know what the he** you’re doing! I left a voice mail in billing 3 weeks ago with no call back and all you get is voice mail. Looks like I’m going to have to make a not so happy trip up there. I do not recommend this place to anyone!

I had a couple of very poor experiences with Dr. Vankineni. The first visit he saw me for about 15 seconds, virtually no exam, before "diagnosing" me with IBS (which I knew I did not have, I had ZERO IBS symptoms but suspected I had diverticulitis). Then poof, he was gone, no treatment of any kind other than a minor dietary recommendation. Well, when later I went to renew my insurance (I was on a COBRA policy from a previous employer) I was denied coverage and my policy CANCELLED because of my IBS diagnosis. What??? It took me days and days of wrangling, getting letters and documentation from other doctors confirming that I was not nor had ever been treated for IBS to get my coverage reinstated... a nightmare all because of his careless (and uncaring) 15-second non-diagnosis. I went to him again (Lord knows why) for a different problem, and he scheduled an endoscopy. He said he wanted to do it at Crestwood. Even when I was sitting with the scheduler he stuck his head in the door… reiterating that he wanted to do it at Crestwood. Some time later I got a call from his office saying it was to be done at Huntsville Hospital. When I went to HH for the procedure, he came in the room and said "What are you doing here, I said Crestwood." I explained that his staff called me and moved it to HH. He grumbled "Arrrghh... no one in my office knows what they are doing." That's a real confidence builder. Stay away. Go visit Dr. John-Paul Voelkel, a smart young guy who really LISTENS and is very helpful.

I have been to three different gastroenterologists in the Huntsville AL area and have now been a patient of Dr Vankiineni for several years. He continues to impress me with his knowledge in his field. In my opinion and also the opinion of several other doctors and nurses I know he is the best in all of North Alabama. I give him 5 Stars.

Dr. Vankinini is, without a doubt, a very intelligent and capable doctor. He certainly knows medicine, biology and diseases. I came to him with a complicated problem. I wrote a single page, type-written list of my history and symptoms of this problem. I was surprised that I never even sat down in the waiting room. As soon as I signed in I was taken back and in less than 2 minutes had blood pressure taken, temperature, weight and etc. and was in a patient room. I gave the nurse a list of my medications and the sheet with my history. Before she even typed the first item into the computer, Dr. Vankinini was in the room. He asked what my primary complaint was and I told him. He had ordered a colonoscopy before I even finished the sentence and was leaving. This is before he had even had my history! I couldn't talk to him before the test and I had a myriad of phone messages back and forth through the nurse. I couldn't talk to him after the test and again, went through the nurse… EIGHT times. When I FINALLY got a chance to talk to him (my husband came and stood in front of the door so he couldn't leave abruptly again) it turns out he was prescribing medicine I was already taking and had not even READ the history. Then he chastised me for not bringing items in the history to his notice! If you have a "cookie-cutter" problem then this doctor can help you. If you want a fast appointment with little or no waiting, he is the one for you. If you need more attention or have a complicated problem that needs a doctor's concentration and compassion plus caring, measured deliberation...consider another doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr. Vankineni's for about 10 years, and he has earned my utmost trust and respect. I have to base my ratings of his office staff and wait time on my last visit, about 4 years ago. I have been stationed in Europe and as soon as I return to the US, I shall once again be under Dr. Vankineni's excellent care.
