Dr. Qingping Yao, MD, PhD

Awful. My first visit I waited 45 mins in the exam room to be seen. I was getting up to walk out when he came in and said he was late because he is a very important person as the chief of department. That was the first red flag. After trying to explain my symptoms, I was constantly cut off and told how famous he is, how people fly in from all over to see him and he even tried to show me the papers in which he was published. He then tried to say my symptoms were consistent with Yao syndrome (named after him). I do not have the symptoms of Yao syndrome. I brought tons of medical reports and test results with me and had to ask him twice to please look at them. He ordered very minimal bloodwork and told me upon return to make sure my appt was at 1:00 again as I would be his first appt and he will be on time. I returned 4 weeks later at 1:00 again and I waited 1 hour this time in the exam room. Sitting on a table in pain. Just as before not one person came in to let me know he was running… late. I then heard him walk into the room next to me and begin with a patient. I got up and walked out. Extremely disappointed to say the least. All this dr wanted to do was brag about himself and act like his time was more important than mine.

Canceled the appointment and went on vacation, I was never informed. Took an Angel flight from out of state and Uber rides for nothing. No respect for patients' time or money.

I waited for over an hour in the waiting room to see him, and when I finally did, all he did was brag about his research and how patients fly in from other countries to see him. He kept saying “google me!” which I should have done - now I see why he has 2 stars. He did not let me speak or list my symptoms. He cut me off every two seconds, then said I have carpal tunnel (I have no wrist pain!) He doesn’t type notes into the computer, he speaks them into a recorder - I told him every morning I wake up and am in pain for the first hour, and he says into his recorder “patient claims she has pain some mornings for 15 minutes”. Not even close to what I said.. I was sent for blood work, and he still won’t call me back with the results. I am going to see a different rheumatologist now, and hopefully figure out why I have all-over body pain, which I’m pretty sure isn’t carpal tunnel. Awful doctor, I wouldn’t recommend. Very full of himself.

I've seen several rheumatologists in the area and none of the experiences compared with the one I've experienced with Dr. Yao. He is very friendly and most importantly he cares about his patients! He was very thorough with the examination and answered all the questions I had. I highly recommend Dr. Yao.

Didn't bother to review all the symptoms, nor did he even look at the scans that were brought. Didn't look at the whole person and wanted to brag himself up of writing his published articles and his research . This was not reassuring and said most Dr's wouod give you a different diagnoses

Dr Yao is by far the best doctor I have ever gone to see. I am 35 with an odd traveling arthritis like disease. We are still in the process of diagnosing my ailment, but his follow up and time spent with me is just unmatched. That's what you get when you go to a top ranked hospital. After 6 different doctors treating me like just another idiot, I found Dr Yao who immediately ruled out other misdiagnosed scary diseases. I live 4 hours away, but have moved all of my care to the Cleveland Clinic. You will not be sorry if you do the same.

Dr. Yao is not a doctor that I feel the most comfortable with. He comes up with something and he changes his mind before the visit is over. He does not seem sure of his diagnosis or plan of treatment.
