Dr. Quinton Stuart Gopen, MD

This is my honest review of Dr. Gopen's staff/practice, not him. I came to know about him through his YouTube videos and the work he has done on Superior Canal Dehiscence Syndrome (SCDS) as I am suffering from one after septoplasty surgery I had, which could be unrelated.(Still seeing other doctors for it) Since Dr. Gopen is out-of-network with my health insurance, I had to undergo a pre-cert/authorization process. Scheduling told me to reach out to his MA, Jareth, for further guidance and provided me with her phone number and email. I called more than 10 times and left her voicemails with no response; I had my insurance and the director of our insurance, call her still no response, so I called the complaint line; both ladies there said they would call me back after they found out what's going on, still no response. This lingered on for 2 months until I had my PCP put in an out-of-network request, and my insurance approved it. When I thought I had made a breakthrough and finally was… able to see Dr. Gopen, I got a call from the Practice Manager that Dr. Gopen had decided he couldn't see me! Telling me my behavior was inappropriate! I am like, what are you talking about? This is being I haven't even met them?!? I have been suffering from Dehinscence for 5 months, and after passing all the hurdles, when I thought I made a breakthrough and finally got the authorization from my insurance, you are telling me he can't see me! What happened to Hippocratic Oath? I am very depressed over this. This has been my honest experience and not reflective of others. I hope they can improve the process in his clinic. I was just doing what my insurance instructed me to get a pre-cert. I haven't even met them or talked to them and them jumping to conclusions like this is just weird. I hope others have a better experience.

Dr. Gopen remained aloof, stood off a distance, would not verify basic diagnosis, had an asian staff woman do things for him, kept his hands in his pockets the entire visit, would would not even preview a CT scan, then said things that frightened this patient. Heard great things about him, but upon seeing him, he was comipletely the opposite of what I had been led to expect. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.

Dr. Gopen went WAY above and beyond to more fully diagnose and treat me. His diagnosis change my life forever...thank you!

Worst experience ever !! I am now completely deaf in one of my ears do to a woops (I thought everything was ok) mistake .. Now to adjust to ringing in the ears and relying on one ear instead of to which I had before surgery !! Look else where !!

Ok I suppose.... If you don't mind zero post op care and zero investment in your care or recovery. Won't admit to failed surgeries. Overall experience was poor and I wish I had chose another surgeon.

Traveled out of state for SSCD surgery with Dr. Gopen. Once I left the OR I was on my own. No follow up care and only recommended more surgery when symptoms persisted. No testing offered when the 2nd surgery was recommended. I had to travelto see a new doctor to order testing. He then ignored the results showing the 1st surgery failed. I regret I chose this doctor. He is NOT conservative in offering surgery. Beware.

Traveled across US to see this specialist and spent a lot of money and put trust in him. Initially, impression was good. Looking back, he eases you into surgery, possibly without figuring out the complete, entire picture. Promises close follow up but doesn't provide it and doesn't provide direction for any post op issues.

Good surgeon and intelligent doctor. Not a people person, gets nervous when talking to groups of two or more. Not considerate of patient's time. Poor followup post-operatively. Cancelled our postop appointment three days beforehand when we had made travel arrangements from out of state; could not be bothered to have a colleague in his office see us instead.
