Dr. Rachel Joan Fogel, MD

I had a breast biopsy and Fogel called to say it was positive for Cancer. I asked what kind of cancer, aggressive? - she said the labs were not all in. So I asked her to call me immediately with that info and she said she would. She never called. I was very concerned as you can imagine. Finally I contacted the social worker assigned who gave me the info from my chart. Last appointment with Fogel she had a first year med student intern in the room with her and she asked me to undress - in front of them. She wanted to do a breast exam but my oncologist had done that two days before - which she knew. I objected saying I was tired of being poked and prodded - she ignored me and proceeded to press hard as she explained to the intern what she was doing and offered to let the intern "feel" the difference in the radiated breast. She's unresponsive and fails to call in prescriptions. Arrogant and unprofessional.

She called to let me know that a biopsy I had tested positive for cancer. I asked what kind and if it was aggressive but she said the lab results were not all in. I asked her to call me when they were and she assured me she would. No call back. I waited nervously. A few days later a social worker called me to go through the next steps. I asked if she had any info on the type of cancer - and she did. It had been in my chart for about 5 days. The social worker was very surprised that the doctor had not called me back with that I info. About a year later she scheduled a follow up. I went in - it was a couple of weeks after a mammogram and 3 days after I had seen my oncologist who had done a thorough breast exam. Dr. Fogel had an intern in the room. she asked some questions then asked me to get undressed from the waist up - as she and the intern stayed in the room. She indicated she was going to do a breast exam to show the intern how. I was emphatic that I was tired of being … poked and prodded and that I had just had a breast exam. she ignored me and continued, pushing hard to the point that it hurt as she talked to the intern. I have had other bad experiences with this doctor. She talks down and is arrogant. She does not treat people with dignity or respect.

She had no consistent memory of my issues, gave up easily, I was rushed through problems, treatments, nor did she care, (rushed through appts of maybe 2 or 3 minutes) from which I felt she had not heard me and I had wasted my time. She lacked medical knowledge about some of my chronic issues and medications so I had to educate her.

In order to review this doctor I have to share with you actual concerns. My first visit with this doctor was insisted by others. I have a serious stomach problem which came from an over the counter pill. She said the problem came from acid reflux even though I told her I do not have acid reflux and I know what acid reflux is. she said she would research the pill, and prescribed a pill to "improve" my stomach aches. she said the pill had no serious side effects... The pill was for persons with acid reflux which I do not have. I only took the pill because I needed something for the pain.. I began having serious side effects from this medication I called many times to complain it has been over 3 months and I still suffer with this awful side effect. After the appt. she put me down as her patient even though I was not HER patient. I have a disability and she did not approve my request for more hours even though my previous doctor would have. When she finally got around to it and… I spoke with her again. she did not remember who I was and did not read anything upon entering the room she mostly kept her back turned both times and stared at the computer asking me dumb questions and making assumptions of my eating habits just because I'm over weight. she did not research the pill as she said she would do. When she learned of my saver side effects she just shrugged her shoulders. her exact words were "oh" I still have the pain in my stomach plus the side effects from her prescription. If you are booked to see Dr. Fogel say "I don't want to see her" and see someone else She's more interested in joking around and making side comments than treating patients.

My first meeting with Dr Fogel was in hospital, when I had a kidney infection. The first thing she did was ignore my report and override the hospital doctor on duty and have my IV pulled out so all my medication was unbeknownst to me, stopped in the night. I woke with severe nausea because one of the meds was for nausea. Apparently she doesnt "believe in" IVs, and did not listen when I told her I do not tolerate oral antibiotics well, and had been taking them for over a month. A doctor who pays zero attention to a patients concerns and withdraws medication without warning. Be warned unless you are looking for an.over-confident doctor with no respect for a patient's concerns. Luckily the nurses informed me I could reject any docotr, and so I refused further treatment
