Dr. Rachel V. Gagen, MD

She is by far one of the worst doctors in the area. As other days she talks to you like you are an idiot that knows nothing about your child and she is Gods gift to pediatrics. Every time we have to see her in the weekend we have to come back during the next week to get antibiotics. Our son has a wet cough and drainage she proceeded to say he is fine and doesn’t have pneumonia. Then she tested him for Covid for “health reasons”. The reason for no antibiotics because he will get diarrhea. That has never happened in the past. Also don’t worry about saying a medicine doesn’t work for your child you will talked to like a child and still give them that medicine. She really needs to learn parents might not have medical degrees but they know their child better then you.

Complete disregard for her patient and their well-being. I was told my son just had nasal drip. When I brought the blisters in his throat to her attention (more then once) she proceeded to tell me that I just saw food in his mouth and his mouth was clear. We had to take him to another doctor's office for a second opinion.... he had full-blown strep and was put on antibiotics instantly. Unfortunately her young patients suffer because of this.

While others may love her, I left my son's appointment feeling as if I were spoken to like a 7 year old. She was condescending, patronizing, and slightly humiliating. I am an educated woman, and while I do not have a medical background, I do have some knowledge and am aware of how certain things work. Instead of validating my concerns, or giving me peace of mind, Dr. Gagen treated me as if I were stupid, as if my concerns were silly, and spoke to me as if I were a child. My concern was the size of my childs lymph nodes (as well as possibly strep throat) and I was given an explanation with a very dramatic performance where I can only assume she used her literary background to tell me that my son's lymph nodes were soldiers who were deployed and were fighting a battle. They were big and strong and swollen because they were fighting, but that soon enough they would win the battle and would calm down, but since they are still deployed they would remain able to be seen since they couldn't… go home yet. She continued explaining this to me in a condescending way until I finally stared at her asking if she was finished. I will never be treated that disrespectfully again by a medical professional and my children will never be treated by Dr. Gagen again.

Called for an after hours appointment with Dr. Gagen. She informed me we waited so long because my infant wasn't even sick. Without looking at him she said there was nothing wrong with him. When I asked why he was running a high fever she said "let me take a look" I should not have to beg a doctor to look at my child. She assured me it was a virus and my baby would be fine. I returned in the morning, saw a different doctor and he was rushed to the hospital where we stayed all week. I understand a misdiagnosis can happen, but she was very dismissive towards something that ended up being very serious. She was bubbly but talked quickly, she could have a great bedside manner if she took the time.

Dr Gagen puts my 2 and 4 yr olds at ease, answers all my questions and is very knowledgeable. I would recommend her very highly to anyone. My kids are shy, but they smile when she comes in and she makes the experience actually fun for them to go to the doctor's.
