Dr. Rachel Sharon Gross, MD

Dr. Gross obtained her medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at The Childrens Hospital at Montefiore. She subsequently earned a masters degree in clinical investigations with a concentration in public health during her fellowship in medicine and public health research at NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Gross joined the faculty in the Department of General Pediatrics at The Childrens Hospital at Montefiore and at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2009. Since beginning at Montefiore, she was granted an APA Young Investigator Award sponsored by Bright Futures and the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) to study the relationship between early social-emotional problems and the development of child obesity. Dr. Gross is also co-Project Director of a randomized control trial, sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture, to test the effectiveness of a primary care, family-centered child obesity prevention program …beginning in pregnancy and continuing throughout the childs first three years of life. The study aims to reduce the prevalence of obesity at age three, to improve child diet composition and to promote healthy lifestyle behaviors.
