Dr. Rachel Leland, MD

I would like to not be seen by Dr. Leland ever again. She may be a great doctor in terms of medical knowledge but her people skills and bedside manners is very much lacking. She ended up delivering my son Liam in 2018, since she was the doctor on call. After giving birth naturally and being in excruciating pain, Liam came out of the birth canal without crying....I was freaking out abt it and she has the nerve to tell me "this can be common amongst mothers who take antidepressants during pregnancy, bc the baby comes out withdrawing from the drugs....!" I just gave birth to my son naturally, I'm upset the baby is not crying right away, and she has the nerve to tell me it's bc of my choice to take care of my mental health and well being that my baby is not crying and is in distress and needs to go to the nicu?! Are you joking me? As a recovering alcoholic that really is painful to hear from a doctor esp when I'm already in emotional and physical distress with giving birth naturally. I… saw her again today for my 39 wk apt and it was a horrible experience. She is cold, very accusatory and rude. She told me it’s basically my fault that I didn’t know I was a carrier of Group B test (bc I hadn’t checked “my charts”), when I mentioned that my OB hadn’t told me I was positive for Group B. She said that bc of risk to the baby I could not have my “membranes stripped” at the appointment today, even tho I was told otherwise in my prior apt at 38 wks last wk, that the procedure would be done. This is super upsetting as I want to go into labor ASAP without having to be induced. Today was not nearly as painful emotionally as it was 2 years ago with my traumatizing experience with Dr. Leland, feeling like its my fault my baby is not crying bc of taking antidepressants during my pregnancy. I never ever write reviews but bc of how awful she was with me 2 yrs ago and her coldness/blaming attitude with me today, I do not want other pregnant mommas to have the experiences I have had by seeing her.
