Dr. Rachel Vandenbrink, DO

My mother was a patient of Dr. Vandenbrink for a short while. The reason it was so short is that this woman is so rude and condescending. My mother is elderly, so she forgets easily and rambles. Dr. Vandenbrink would sigh loudly and annoyed, rush my mom, rudely interrupt her, and speak down to her like she was a dumb and annoying child. She did the same thing to our family as well. Once, my aunt was here while my mom was on the phone with the doctor (during Coronavirus) from home and my aunt's jaw hit the floor over how rude and nasty Dr. Vandenbrink was speaking to my mom and her granddaughter. It was awful. When we hung up my aunt asked why we would put up with that abuse and we told her my mom had just been switched to Dr. Vandenbrink after her other doctor left the practice. It was at that time we decided no more abuse from this awful woman. If you don't take my advice and steer clear of this doctor and you go in for a visit, just be ready for an attitude, and remember I told you… so.

Dr. VanDenBrink has been my regular doctor for almost 3 years. She is the only doctor who I feel has ever listened to me and cared for me. I love her and I know I can trust her 100%. She is so sweet every time I see her and truly truly cares about her patients.

Good doctor- listens to her patients, but, as any doctor, does not like being told how to do her job.Is knowledgeable and caring.

This is late in coming. She was my PC physicain but I had been seeing her PA who I loved but she left. So when I broke out with shingles,which she didn't bother to look at instead said she would not allow me to take my anxiety pills anymore. She gave me no reason,knew nothing about me,didn't listen but kept typing and I left angry and in tears. She is a snotty,rude person and why Allegan keeps her on is beyond me.

When my previous physician relocated last year, her Patients were assigned to other physicians within the same practice. Incidently, myself and immediate family were assigned to her. Care, compassion, respectfulness, knowledge, expertise are nonetheless non-existing. This physician was rather sarcastic on more than one occurrence. My concerns regarding my symptoms, past medical hx. and discomfort level fell on deaf ears. No diagnostic test were ordered. This physician diagnosed me with Piriformis Syndrome. Physical Therapy was ordered and I complied. I chose to do my Physical Therapy at Agility Health in Plainwell and I WOULD recommend them to anyone! After the initial consult, my Therapist notified the physician of his concerns and suspicion regarding neurological involvement. I continued with therapy, praying for relief from the agonizing lower back and left leg and calf pain, weakness of the left leg and ankle, and the continuous numbness of my toes and majority of my left foot.… During the course of 6-8 weeks, two contacts from my therapist, 3 un-answered phone calls from myself requesting a CT, MRI or atleast to be referred back the to the Neurologist who performed surgery 6 years ago so my insurance would cover, 2 E.R. Visits, and 2 Chiropractor visits, FINALLY a referral was made to the neuro-surgeon. However the referral was not from my family physician, it was made from the second Chiropractor I seen. 2-weeks post surgery and the agonizing pain is relieved. Apparently the nerve damage causing the numbness to my left foot and toes may be permanent. I wouldn't have treated my worst enemy or patient, as I am a nurse myself and have worked in the medical field for some time now, as she has treated me. She spent as much time pulling her one-piece, skin tight, thigh-high dress down so when she sat down, she didn't expose anything, than what she spent addressing my concerns. She tried to be-little me and was very sarcastic when I told her I had thought I slipped another disc in my back after sneezing forcefully. She replied rather sarcastically, all the while chuckling, "you can't herniate a disc by just sneezing." My advice to her would be to find a different occupation. My advice to any one who is considering a new physician would be to do some research, continue reading reviews, and ask around before making a choice.

I wouldn't recommend Dr. Vandbrink to any one.

I saw Dr. VanDenBrink at Allegan General Hospital and she is the worst doctor I have ever seen. I was scheduled with her because my regular doctor's schedule was booked. She did not take time to find out what was wrong with me. She began typing away on her laptop before I was even done explaining my symptoms and became really frustrated because she couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. What a wasted doctor's visit! I can't believe my insurance had to pay her when she didn't do her job! There should be a way to report horrible doctors like her. I always wondered where medical students who get C's and D's wind up...I guess Dr. VanDenBrink was one of those. If I could give her Zero stars, I would!
