Dr. Raja Taunk, MD

After being referred to Mr. Taunk by my primary care doctor, he looked at my chart and said, “Wow, you’re 38 and you have never been married or have any children.” Things became increasingly outrageous when returning for a follow up visit. After discussing some medical concerns I was having Mr. Taunk followed up by stating,”Well, I hope you’re not a math teacher.” He then prescribed me a new medication with no explanation. If you are a female or in search of a physician who places priority on your treatment and care, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Do NOT recommend!

Dr Taunk is amazing in so many ways. First, clinically: He found the root of my debilitating abdominal pain and treated it conservatively to a point of no pain. Second, demeanor: His bedside manner is friendly, assertive and empathetic. Lastly, expertise: He is a mater of his craft, knowing from a little information what is causing the issues you are having. I highly recommend Dr. Taunk and you won't be sorry if you choose him or AA Gastroenterology.

My husband had some digestion issues and he went to see Dr. Taunk. He gave him immediate feedback that seemed to make sense. After following instructions from Dr. Taunk, his digestion issues resolved completely. Since then, I had a difficult time swallowing food. It would get stuck in my esophagus. My husband recommended that I go see Dr. Taunk. He got me on the schedule fairly quickly and recommended that he preform a endoscopy to see what was going on. He went over the possible diagnosis and what he would do in each scenario. I ended up having a procedure to stretch my esophagus. He also noticed an excess of acid in my stomach which was probably the cause of my esophagus tightening. He prescribed acid reducing medication and sent me on my way. It was like magic. All of my swallowing issues were gone and the acid medication had an unexpected perk. I no longer have crampy stomach issues after eating spicy or greasy food. I am so thankful to Dr. Taunk and his expertise!

I've had Crohn's disease for almost 20 years now, and I've had quite a few gastro docs over the years. Dr. Taunk was without a doubt the best doctor I've had. I had to move out of state, so unfortunately I'm no longer with him. But he is truly excellent. I was sad to see some of the negative ratings on here so I felt like I should chime in!

I had a very traumatic event which resulted in me going into full cardiac arrest. It turned out my esophagus was severely damaged and bleeding after suffering from Crohn's for over 25 years. I met Dr. Taunk for the first time when he walked into my hospital room. I immediately felt more comfortable with him than I felt with doctors I have had for years. He has excellent bedside manners and eased my fears. He continued to work with me trying to get to the bottom of what was causing my acute symptoms. All the while, making me feel as if I was his only patient. He thoroughly understood how life as I knew it had been completely ripped out from beneath me. Throughout numerous hospitalizations he worked extremely hard researching and consulting with colleagues to come up with an accurate diagnosis. He was not afraid to refer me to John's Hopkin's for further studies and evaluation. I recently had a setback requiring another hospitalization and the emergency removal of my feeding tube. Dr.… Taunk has been an angel for me. I know I am in very qualified hands under his care. He always looks out for my best interest and I would highly recommend him. I especially love that he has hospital privileges so I can see him in the hospital and follow through with visits at his office.
