My husband had thyroid cancer and needed to have his thyroid and the tumors removed by Dr. Iannuzzi. I wanted to report what a talented surgeon Dr. Iannuzzi is - he was able to remove his tumor and the thyroid without damaging any of the surrounding normal tissue. Because he did such a great job of getting most of the tissue removed with the surgery (it is impossible to get everything without damaging the parathyroid glands, apparently), the follow up radioactive iodine dose was very low, and following all of the treatment there is no detectable remaining tumor tissue. The thing that really impressed me is that the surgery was initially estimated to take 2-3 hours, and ended up taking 5 - after the surgery he described to me that the gland and associated tumor tissue was much larger than expected. I feel that others would appreciate knowing that he will take the time that is necessary to do a good job. He is very a personable and practiced surgeon - we are so grateful for the excellent… job he did.
