Dr. Raul J Rodriguez has the following 3 specialties
A neurologist is a physician who diagnoses and treats disorders of the nervous system which is comprised of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. These doctors do not perform surgery, but refer patients to neurological surgeons when they determine that surgical intervention is necessary.
Some of the conditions that neurologists diagnose and treat are epilepsy, aneurysms, hydrocephalus, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal disc herniation, and spinal disease.
In addition to using diagnostic tests like MRI, CT scans, EEG and EMG, neurologists also employ neurological testing to gauge muscle strength and movement, balance, reflexes, sensation, memory, speech, and other cognitive abilities.
A psychiatrist is a doctor with specific training in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.
He or she can not only provide the counseling necessary to both diagnose and treat a patient, but can also prescribe medication when needed. In some cases, a psychiatrist will only provide the medication and the counseling will be provided by another healthcare specialist, like a certified counselor or psychologist.
Like other doctors, psychiatrists employ diagnostic tools like CT scans and MRI in order to observe the structure and function of a patient's brain.
Once a diagnosis is made, these specialists may use behavior or cognitive therapy in order to address the patient's condition, or a multitude of other types of therapy, in conjunction with or in place of medication.
- Addiction Medicine
An addiction medicine specialist is a doctor who treats patients with addictions to substances like drugs and alcohol or, in some cases, behaviors like gambling. Many of these specialists also treat the diseases that stem from these addictions.
These physicians are specially trained to prevent and treat the disease of addiction via psychiatric means, or other fields of medicine like family or internal medicine.

The Delray Center has left me in much worse shape than before I ever walked in there front door. The charge much more than they quote you over the phone, I had an appointment scheduled yet when I showed up they said I wasn't in the system so they charged me for a walk in fee. they called my RX into the wrong pharmacy (4) different times. The staff talk down to you, it was so humiliating. They have made me so afraid to even try another Doctor that I'm left no choice but to remain on my own and deal with my Anxiety Disorder on my own and just deal with my attacks. It's incredible that a Dr. can leave you feeling "That Broken & scared to trust" the mental health field. I will be sending a letter to Gov. Rick Scott and at least bring to his attention how sad and worthless the Delray Center is. Someone has to something. Perhaps if any others have experienced nightmares similar to mine you may speak out about it as well. GOD BLESS US...with Dr.'s such as Raul Rodriguez we need it!
I read through the comments from other people on this website, and i have to say that they did not give Dr a chance. If you're going to judge a Doctor's abilities to treat you based on time spent in waiting room, etc, then you know nothing about what it takes to be a good doctor in All aspects. I've been a patient of Dr R for 6 years. I have suffered from severe depression, anxiety, and ADD for over 22 years. I have been on almost every medication on the market. Ive seen many different psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, etc. When i moved to FL 6 years ago, Dr R determined that i was over medicated. He spent time with me at every visit, listened to me, thorough reviewed my past records, and came up with a plan of how to titrate down on certain meds and slowly start new ones. Because of the severe aide effects of stopping and starting antidepressants, it is a tricky process and must be tailored to each individual. It takes time, but his plan worked! I became able to function normally, lost 40 pounds, started living my life, got a job, etc. Over the years, aome adjustments have to be made, but thats just the nature of how your brain and body respond to the meds and life changes. He also got me into therapy, he got me with someone at his office who helped with the self pay rates since my insurance didn't cover therapy. Eventually i went through DBT, which has helpes me in many life situations. I have moved up from being a receptionist to now being a manager of an entire department at my job. I wouldn't be here without Dr R and Shyla, my therapist. So to those peoe complaining about the extended wait time, you must see the bigger picture. There are Many timea when psychiatric patients have emergencies and need to be seen right away. He will never turn you away when you are one of those people. So yes, sometimes you may have to wait, but it is because he ia seeing patients who had urgent situations. Not because of overbooking. He also has hours as early as 6am on certain days, so if you go at a less busy time you wont have to wait at all. He caters to patient's needs by offering late hours, early hours, walk in emergency visits, and a holistic approach to overall health. He has programs for weight loss, nutrition, acupuncture, massage, group therapy, yoga, DBT, and more. He may not be the cheapest doctor in town, but the results of his treatments are definitely worth every penny. I would not be here today without his help, and the help of Shyla Ford (my therapist).
once you make appointment, you wait FOREVER to see the Dr. because they double and triple book appointments. The office staff is the worst, they di not follow up with you AT ALL. I called in 4 times and left 4 messages to have my DR call me back because I was having a reaction to a med he prescribed to me and I never got a call back. NEVER!!!! Didn't get to talk to him until my next apt after waiting an hour and 1/2 to see him. they charge you $400.00 for first time patients even if you have insurance and $125.00 for every visit after that which is basically just to get refills!!!! Called Jennifer the billing manager SEVERAL times to see what my refund was going to be after turning in my claims to my insurance company and I got the same excuse every time, that she submitted them and Florida Blue takes forever to pay. So I called Florida Blue and she never submitted the claims. I've been dealing with this for 6 months and still don't have my refund!!!!!!! Avoid at all costs!!!!!!!! Such a joke and so unprofessional!!!!!!!
