Amazing Doctor. With a simple procedure my pain was GONE. Dr. Kerr listens.

I originally went to Dr. Kerr because she was within my insurance network of providers, she was close to where I lived and her reviews online were not bad. I made an appointment for a routine check-up. When I went to my appointment I waited quite a long time in the waiting room, definitely over 30 minutes and the office was not even packed. I told Dr. Kerr off the bat that I was a student and only wanted to do exams covered by my insurance. I did not want to do any testing that I would be charged extra for by the lab because I have no income. I made that clear to her and she claimed she understood. I also told her I only came for a routine check up. I wanted to be very clear cause in the past I have had doctors run tests without my consent but I will take ownership of those instances because I may have not been clear. She then went on a 1 hour speech about god knows what and told me about how she wants to do this and that and after her speech I told her again I would not want to do… any of it if it means my insurance won't cover it. She GUARANTEED I would not pay anything but the co-pay for the day and that if any issues came up I should call the office. Lo and behold I get a lab statement a few months later for a few thousand dollars. Again, I don't have time for this being a law student but I call the office because I obviously can't afford it, and over a few days we get it sorted out. Fast-forward a year later I get an email that states my credit score has been docked because I am sent to collections. I inquire about the collections and looks like a lab sent me to collections for an amount that I was never notified about owing. Long story short I called the office several times within 3-weeks to get it sort out, the nurses barely cared and obviously the Doctor didn't even take any responsibility. I never received any statements, never consented to the tests and in the end my credit score was affected for something Dr.Kerr originally promised and agreed she wouldn't do. Don't go to her. She is clearly not a good human and has no morals and in the end you will be duped into hearing a 1 hour speech after waiting 30 minutes or more for your appointment and then forced to pay for unnecessary testing, assuming you haven't made it to collections yet because of inadequate notice.

First, let me start by saying I have a herniated disk, and am in much pain. I am in much needed for a surgery and followed the path led by doctors: primary care doctor to spine surgeon to neurologist. Neurologist/Surgeon refers me for epidural shot. Surgeon refers to doctor, (Axeminister denies referral, [Axeminister denied every step along the process. They are the worst, but unfortunately, the complaint is not about them] and sends me to a new doctor, Dr. Kerr at capaininstitute.com. This complaint is against her receptionist staff, ALL OF THEM. When I called their office, after the referral, the rude receptionist told me they did not receive any referral. I call my surgeon doctor, explain to them to fax over the referral. Call the rude team back, and they CONFIRMED that they just received the referral over the phone. She said she had it in her hand, and they will review the chart, and will get back to me. 3-4 weeks later, I call back, and they are all incredibly rude. They said… they never received it, and she talked to everyone in the room, and that everyone said no one talked to me, and that no one had it. I asked her what it meant when they confirmed receipt, and she was just incredibly rude. When I asked her about it more, she sparked rudely, "You are not a patient here, so we do not know you." I'm a future patient, and she's shaming me because I'm not yet a patient, but I"m a incoming new customer. At the end of the call, I do admit I got super frustrated because she was never willing to help. And more importantly, because I'M IN PAIN. If I didn't call today, I would have been waiting another 1-2 weeks. They did NOTHING to check up on me. In 1.5 weeks, I have my epidural shot REVIEW! how are we going to review the process if I haven't even had the shot yet? Overall, the team here, (and even the first time I called), they were rude and unprofessional. This office makes your insurance looks bad, and this office is in dire need of a customer service review. I'm in pain and that's no way to treat a patient. She ended the call by saying, I'm no longer welcome to get treatment here. (Even though they were incredible unwilling to give me any treatment any way) I also suffer from near extreme anxiety and depression, so imagine how this process made me feel? (you can check my records and see). to sum it up: FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR OFFICE IF YOU CARE ABOUT RESPECT AND GOOD SERVICE. IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED RUDELY, THEN, YOU'LL BE VERY HAPPY HERE. (Just look at the other reviews regarding customer service and making appointments, if you don't believe me!) Please do something about this office!

Doctor Kerr is a brilliant pain management specialist! I highly recommend her.

Very helpful office, polite Made and kept eye contact while engaged in a conversation with me. I have worked in many medical offices advising staff and the employers what changes need to made to make the practice more active

I came to Dr. Kerr in excruciating pain down my thigh that affected my hip and my leg and all motions involving standing and sitting and walking. I had already been to Cedars Sinai ER and they had failed to diagnose the problem as had another doctor. I had been lying in bed for several days, unable to walk or stand due to the pain. I didn't know what to do until a friend referred me to Dr. Kerr. She made the correct diagnosis and then proceeded to inject the area around the femerol nerve with cortisone. She also prescribed several medications to get ahold of the pain. Additionally, she sent me for a CT scan to rule out other reasons for the pain. A week later I was pain free and walking. My left leg is still a little weak and I am attending Physical Therapy to work on the weakness but the relief I feel is amazing. Dr. Kerr is very conscientious and caring (she called me every day to check on my condition) and did a fabulous job of managing my care and getting rid of the pain. … I am now pain-free and getting stronger every day. I highly recommend her to anyone experiencing pain for any reason. A pain specialist is the right type of doctor to handle pain. And since Dr. Kerr was initially a board certified anesthesiologist before she became a pain specialist, she is well trained in managing these powerful medications and in understanding the nature of pain.

Receptionist friendly and helpful. Nurse extremely professional, friendly and helped to fill out diagnostics and sort out symptoms. Dr Kerr extremely friendly, thorough, knowledgable exam and review of all records. Suggested treatment options and meds. We feel Dr Kerr and staff are worthy of consideration for treating your pain. Within our family we have nurses, medical administrators and our one of our daughters works for a chief of surgery of a major hospital. We did not let the Dr. or staff know this. Great experience. Will follow up.

I have been seeing Dr. Kerr for 10 years.She is very caring, and is very interested in my well being

dr kerr is uncaring, unfeeling, cold, insensitive & shows no compassion at all. i believe that as a pain management doctor you need to have all of the above qualities. during a first visit, she negated all of my problems by stating "SHE HAD NO PROOF". She told me there was nothing wrong with my low back & i shouldn't be complaining. two months later, i was diagnosed with a ruptured disc! She was intent on getting opinions from doctors not in my insurance network & not letting me find my own doctor. 20 minutes after leaving her office the first time, i called to let her know there was a conflict with who she'd chosen, it took a week for her office staff to get back to me, with yet another out of network doctor. i would NEVER refer anyone i know to her. after just three appointments, i found a new doctor to treat me. also, i was billed for my co-pay, which she required at the time of visit. when i questioned the employee who took my check about it, i was told that she didn't know & would… look in my file. incompetance all the way around from doctor & nurse to receptionist & billing company!
