Dr. Rediet Kokebie, MD

Dr. Kokebie was a huge disappointment. I had been suffering from a long list of chronic issues when I sought her advice. I was initially very happy with her bedside manner as she seemed sweet, thorough, and genuinely concerned about my health. And while the time lapse between appointments was long, she assured me that sheâ??d be available over the phone if I had any questions. When she prescribed 2 medications that caused several horrible side effects however, I was unable to reach her. I initially sent her a text (her preferred method of communication) and waited 4 days. When I had no answer, I called and left a message on her cell phone saying I felt much worse, and that the pharmacist strongly suggested I call my doctor. 4 more days passed, and I still had no answer. Given how nice sheâ??d been in person, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and thought perhaps she lost her cell phone, or had a family emergency. Even so, I was doing worse than ever. I decided to stop the… medication on my own but was still feeling awful, and ended up in the emergency room at Mercy. Before being discharged, I asked the ER doctors to forward my records to Dr. Kokebie. They assured me sheâ??d receive them the following day. I was sure sheâ??d call me then, but she didnâ??t. This made me sad and angry. She was purposely choosing to ignore me. Still, I called her office and after multiple tries was finally able to leave a message with her assistant. I told the assistant that Iâ??d contacted Dr. Kokebie multiple times over the past 2 and a half weeks and was even seen at the emergency room, but she never once returned my texts or calls. The assistant said sheâ??d pass along the message to Dr. Kokebie. Another 5 days passed before I finally got a voicemail message from her telling me to stop the medication, but there were no further instructions, no apology, and no explanation for the lack of communication. While Iâ??ve been disappointed by other doctors in the past, it was especially disappointing to have Dr. Kokebie behave this way. I really thought I had finally found a great doctor, but it seems I was wrong.
