Prior to his position with The Orthopedic Institute of New Jersey, Dr. Shamim was an assistant team physician for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruins in Los Angeles, CA. In this role, he treated many Olympic, professional and NCAA Division I athletes. He has also held a position at The Promise Clinic in New Brunswick, NJ, teaching first and second year medical students about the diagnosis and treatment of common conditions while providing care to the underserved population of New Brunswick.
Dr. Shamim completed his fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA where he gained expertise in arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder, knee and hip. He also completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in Philadelphia, PA.
