Dr. Rena Goodfriend-Leve, MD

I have never dealt with a doctor as negligent at Dr. Goodfriend. I needed her to fill out paperwork and scheduled an hour-long appointment with her to go through it. She scheduled the appointment without reading any of my messages or looking over any of the medical records I sent her, so she had no idea what the purpose of the appointment was. I explained it to her and she complained about how much work it was going to be for her to fill out the paperwork and said that I needed to fill out as much of it as I could. She then ended the appointment after 5 minutes and charged me for the full hour. I filled out the paperwork as Dr. Goodfriend asked. A few days later, her nurse sent me the paperwork filled out by Dr. Goodfriend (she did not even look at the paperwork she asked me to fill out). Everything was wrong. She literally made up information about what medication I had been prescribed and what I had been diagnosed with. I pointed out the errors and she said I needed to schedule a… second appointment with her because "so much information was missing from my medical records." I asked her nurse exactly what information she needed me to provide, and she responded with a list of documents I had already submitted multiple times. I scheduled a second appointment with Dr. Goodfriend and, when she came to the appointment, she introduced herself as if we had never met before. She finally filled out the paperwork correctly, which I am grateful for, but I had to pay her for two full appointments because she couldn't be bothered to do her job. It is clear that Dr. Goodfriend is only concerned about getting as much money out of patients as she can.

The rudest, and I mean RUDEST doctor I have ever encountered. I don't understand how someone can specialize in mental health and be a so condescending and just mean. Quit your job.

Does not care about patients wellbeing. Makes poor decisions and does not listen to patients. Please for your own sake do research and find a better doctor.

Not worth paying $50+ for a less than five minute appointment where you’re not really listened to and rarely looked at. Obviously she doesn’t care about your problems just about the medications and where to send the refills. 1000% DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Suddenly interrogated me, teased me for "looking like I was about to cry", and made her feelings the central issue when she saw I was trying to transfer psychiatrists.

It became obvious to me that Dr. Goodfriend’s main concern is not the wellbeing of her patients, but how much money she’s racking up. I mentioned to her that I wanted to go off of my medications at some point (I’ve been on depression medication for over 10 years), and she told me “if you want to get off medications, you need to find a new doctor.” She heightened the dosage of one of my medications that was working just fine for me and prescribed me a new medication that was $1200 every 90 days, my insurance didn’t cover any of it. I called her about it and told her I couldn’t afford it, so she switched me to the second highest priced medication, almost $500 every 90 days. she made me feel like I was wasting her time during my appointment and made me feel like an imbicile for not being able to fully articulate my symptoms. I understand that psychiatrists aren’t meant to be your friends, but Dr. Goodfriend is the first psychiatrist I’ve had that genuinely made me feel that she didn’t… care about my wellbeing, only cared about putting me on more meds, higher dosages, and higher prices. Currently searching for a new psych!

Dr Goodfriend-Levy was our daughters doctor for almost a year. During that time we had about 8 visits and my daughter was put on meds for anxiety. This dr does not understand autism and I would strongly urge people to not go to her for medical advice dealing with your children. She told us we were becoming desensitized to our daughters behaviors and that she would have her(12 yrs old at the time) admitted to a psych ward the next time she had a meltdown. Our daughter has since had further testing which revealed a Central Auditory Processing Disorder and a speech and language impairment. This dr just wanted to throw drugs at our child to have her comply with society instead of figuring out why she was so anxious and having such difficulty at school. It wasn't a good experience.
