Saw her with my partner for about six months. I can't say it was a total waste of time, but she often ran late, missed an appointment because she was asleep in her office, and was unkempt and disheveled to the point where it became distracting. She "jokes" that she can be blunt and that's definitely true. That might work better for some people than others, but she also interrupted us a lot, didn't seem to take or review notes, and failed to remember details (including my name!) from week to week, leading to repetition and confusion in sessions.

If you want to address a particular issue, Dr Brooks focuses like a laser beam...very smart, very weird, very wonderful. Way worth the rough exterior! Repeat client of 25 years...as needed to solve problems.

I have been seeing Renana Brooks for many years, sometimes frequently sometimes occasionally depending on my needs. She has used a variety of techniques to help me confront the issues facing me and develop strategies for long term health. She is well educated, a little quirky (which is a good thing to me) and unafraid to delve into hard topics. I trust her implicitly and she has helped me immeasurably. Finding a therapist with whom you can relate is sometimes like dating: two good ppl may not be good together. Renana Brooks has been very good for me.

I have been seeing Dr. Brooks for years. She is an expert in navigating grief and offers practical, helpful instruction on how to cope, survive -- and thrive! She is compassionate, knowledgeable, welcoming, and kind. I highly recommend her. And it doesn't hurt that she takes insurance and her office is conveniently located!

I don't know how Dr. Brooks is still in practice. I went to her with my husband a few years ago for marriage therapy and she would often cancel appointments last minute, show up with her clothes stained or inside out (not kidding), and was completely rude and dismissive during sessions. She was the first therapist I ever saw and I'm so happy that my experience with her didn't make me stay away from ever seeing a therapist again. My next one was 1000 times better.
