Dr. Ricardo Jesus Fernandez, MD

There are not enough superlatives to accurately praise Princeton Family Care and Dr. Fernandez. I have been a patient for 27 years and my severely autistic son has been a patient for 15 years. Dr. Fernandez is truly a lifesaver. His unparalleled ability to find the solution to a problem is swift and accurate. He and his staff have always been supportive and kind. He holds a multitude of certifications that allow him to take patients, even the most severe mental illness, and design a plan to bring them back to wellness. That is why I give Dr. Fernandez and his staff the highest recommendation possible. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent Psychiatrist

Many reviews have included credentials, experience and numerous degrees that indicate Dr.Fernandez's skills, and compassion and I am in agreement with these positive reviews. I had attempted suicide about 16 years ago and Dr.F immediately had seen me, as a new patient and I have trusted him and his top rated staff for 16 years and counting. My history included trying 4 other doctors in the same exact field in PA,NJ and DE with little improvement. If you know what it is like to dread each day and want to get better-SEE this man. When I first started seeing Dr. Fernandez, I had been to one psychiatrist and many therapists. No one diagnosed me correctly. I was given medications by the psychiatrist for the treatment of schizophrenia. I was not schizophrenic. Dr. Fernandez took 2 years to diagnose me correctly. I underwent psychological testing, a sleep deprivation eeg and other testing. It was he who finally diagnosed me correctly and I have been working with him for 31 years. He tells you things you may not want to hear but it is always done in the best interest of the client. He is the best. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking psychiatric care. He is also a specialist in psychopharmacology. He is brilliant in prescribing the correct medication. I would not be who I am today without his help. He also has a wonderful staff.

Knows his medicine well. He was able to diagnose my illness where others had failed.I had a good response to the treatment provided.

I highly recommend Dr. Fernandez. He is always up to date on the latest psychiatric research and had great credentials. I was actually referred to him by my ob/gyn when I was thinking of conceiving and concerned about PPD. Dr. Fernandez had recently presented and my ob/gyn attended the conference and was very impressed. His expertise in addiction treatment and postpartum depression attracted me and he has been such a help even after my pregnancy. He listens to what your goals are for reduction of your symptoms and tells you what the options are and what he feels is the best course of action. He is NOT a psychiatrist who just writes a script for you each time you come in and has you on your way. I heartily recommend him to anyone who needs a psychiatrist.The only cons I can think of that would keep people away are that he doesn't accept any insurance. Personally, I like this because it means he can't be swayed by insurance companies to write scripts for cheaper medications or to… push new ones. I submit my receipts for out of network reimbursement and that helps but I would (and have before) paid out of pocket for regular visits because the experience and breadth of knowledge he has is unparalleled. I drive over an hour to see him regularly and the treatment I receive is worth it.

Dr Fernandez is one of the few doctors that has been able to address my mood, anxiety changes due to peri menopause.
