Dr. Richard D. Ferkel, MD

Ferkel does what he must to diagnose. He is methodical and is not a hurry up" person. This is a good approach. Ferkel has operated on me three times. When all others said amputate, Ferkel said " I have a idea". He saved my foot from amputation. He is a master surgeon. The movie industry, Stunt performers, pro athletes use this man and SCOI. THANK YOU DR. FERKEL for your insistance on bringing the best, most advanced, and pioneering treatments to human beings.

Not a bunion surgeon. Horrible outcome. I now need corrective surgery for ferkel’s poor surgical procedure.

Nice man but my bunion/hammertoe surgery left me with a foot much worse than before the surgery. He put a four inch pin in the top of my slightly derformed hammertoe which now is fused solid and actually is bent upward and to the side. It looks horrible and ten months post surgery I have more pain and my toes look worse than before. You wait minimum of 45 minutes to an hour for your appointment. I would definitely NOT recommend Dr. Richard Ferkel for bunion or hammertoe surgery. If I could post a before and after picture, I’d show you how horrible my foot looks.

Horrible surgery from dr. Ferkel. Bunion is ok but he mutilated my hammertoe. It is painful after six months and he butchered my hammertoe. Maybe he is more of an ankle guy but I would not recommend him for bunion and hammertoe surgery nor will I go to him for my other foot with the bunion. Plus you wait an hour plus for every visit.

I was worried my daughter would limp the rest of her life. She went to Henry Mayo Newhall Emergency Hospital and they sent her home with her broken and dislocated ankle without setting it and without any medication. She was tapped on her should by her angel when Dr. Ferkel took her on as a patient. He corrected the ridiculous job not done at Henry Mayo and magically gave my daughter a second chance. His care, skill and team changed my daughter’s life around and she is back teaching tap dancing and does not have any sign of the disaster that she started with. Also what a great line up of superstar jerseys for the sports heros he has helped. Thank you Dr. Ferkel.

The parking structure is not enough for all the patients. Time for waiting on the doctor is too long. I waiting to see the doctor 1 1/2 just to see him less then 10 mins.

Dr. Ferkel is the BEST! I was petrified to have surgery but Dr. Ferkel was FANTASTIC! I am sure most of you know that Stephen Curry is one of his prominent patients. Natalie, his assistant made a very painful time of life more bearable! She truly is the most professional, proficient, & personable assistant ever! Thank you Dr. Ferkel & Natalie!!!

Dr Ferkel corrected my "rolling ankle" problem from years of constant re injury. There was nothing holding the tendons to the outside of the ankle, other doctors recommended "hooks" to re attach; dr Ferkel knew the problem more serious and did the hard surgery. Painful recovery but good after 10 + years. He is a skillful surgeon.

I loved Dr. Ferkel....going into my second surgery, I was very wary. He was actually the 3rd doctor I went to see and I felt so comfortable with him medically. He knew what he was talking about, he performed tests I hadn't seen any of the other doctors do and he was attentive to my personalized needs. The surgery went well and the only problem I really had was a bad reaction to the pain medication. Now, I am running, kickboxing and can do whatever I want. I am so grateful to have been under such good hands. As for his personality, the trick is to bring him cookies for the office :) You will be rewarded!
