Dr. Ricardo Jose Trevino, MD

This guy is a total hack. I don't know how he keeps a license if he has one. My insurance company sent me to him because "they couldn't find anyone else to do the operation". He didn't do a pre-surgery visit. He gave me no instructions on what to do or not do. I found out he is at least part owner, if not the owner of the surgery center. Everything was bottom line. They tried to force me out of the surgery center when my blood pressure was through the roof because he shot me up with too much epinephrine to stop bleeding. I couldn't even stand up but they wanted me to walk out. He came in to the recovery room and answered a couple questions but not enough for me to know what was going on. I found out shortly after that that he had not finished the operation and left town. The next day my mouth and tongue was so swollen that I couldn't breath so I was taken to the Stanford emergency room where they had four surgeons in the room who had performed the operation. The triage… doctor just happened to be the doctor who teaches the operation at Stanford. He was literally mad when he saw my condition and is going to testify in my malpractice case. In spite of their treatment, I had more trouble breathing the next day and had to go back to the ER. By law, I am told, Trevino had to either be available or have a backup doctor with access to the records. He had neither. I had two 3/4" holes of fully exposed bone in my mouth because he used a drill to remove bone instead of a saw and he didn't bother to stitch it up. He hadn't even pulled the tissue back before drilling. He drilled a row of holes instead of chiseling or sawing it out. That is crazy. Ten days after the operation he said he was releasing me and I could eat whatever I wanted. I had to have two more operations to fix what he did. I was on a liquid diet for 2 1/2 months and my saliva glands are not recovering. I am still having trouble with my intestines because of the liquid diet. My dentist said it was the worst mess he had ever seen. It took a year for my mouth to get back to functioning, but not normal. I want to see him out of business. Read the other reviews too.

Highly experienced, professional and efficient. Dr Trevino & Penny know their specialty & can diagnose & recommend treatments quickly & efficiently. They've been in practice many years & I have trusted them with my family's health, since we first visited. Not many doctors in practice with this level of experience. Dr Trevino speaks quickly, so make sure you're ready to listen when he walks in the room. & Follow his directions for post-op to avoid unnecessary pain & fear.

I CAME IN SEEKING HELP FOR MY TONSILS 1 WEEK AFTER SURGERY I LOOK IN MY MOUTH WITH FLASHLIGHT AND MIRROR TO FIND ALL THIS TISSUE GONE!!! HE REMOVED TOO MUCH TISSUE!!! MORE THAN WHAT WAS NESSASARY !!!!TOTALLY DEVESTATED I HAVE HAD A DRY BURNING MOUTH PAIN EVERYDAY 24 HRS A DAY FROM ALL THE TISSUE HE REMOVED MY MOUTH HAS NO MOISTURE NO RELIEF I FEEL 100% WORSE!!! If you choose him, you are choosing a wrong medical doctor. This is my story why I strongly suggest you this: my primary doctor introduced me to see him after I had lived for couple months with my running, stuffy nose and sneezing. With the hope of being treated well, I was totally disappointed since he gave most of his work to his assistant doctor. He saw me really quick and then jumped to other rooms with other patients. After having allergy test and others, he decided to have a nasal surgery. He told me that because the space inside my nose was bigger than normal, so I had to do so and he would be the main doctor for that surgery. Everything went fine after I left the surgical room, but they all changed into a nightmare when I came home. I started bleeding a lot. My parents hurried to bring me back to the emergency room and waited there for couple hours while I kept swallowing my blood. When they could find a room for me, my face turned while like a corpse. They tried to contact him… for several hours. He came late and insisted that I was alright and I could leave. My parents were so angry and asked other doctors to help me. They did everything, except him. As a result from his surgery, I spent more than a week in the hospital while they provided me 12 units of blood. Sounds cool right?. The symptoms had gone, but then go back. I have to find another doctors for treatment. Again, if you decide to see him or have a surgery with him, BE CAREFUL.

I got shooting pain (Trigeminal Neuralgia) but he said that I had large inferior turbinates. He recommended reduction inferior turbinates by surgery.

Warning do not use this doctor.

This practice (2 Doctors)know what they are doing once you get to them. But.. you'll have to tolerate their office staff being terribly inconsiderate, cold for that matter. They could care less about lightening the place up and opening the blinds or windows to circulate some clean air. It's like a dirty cave. I've been a couple of times now and feel dirty when I leave from the space fostering all the germs from the coughing, sneezing, sick people waiting. I witnessed one patient literally sneeze three times into a magazine like it was his kleenex. If I wasn't already sick, I would have thrown up. One lady left the office and waited outside. I should have too, but the staff will not leave their little "area" of comfort. Like I said, Doctors are an "A", Staff "C", office an "F". I prefer a cleaner environment, perhaps one that would circulate air to get rid of the germs. Open the door for the love of GOD. Beware of touching ANYTHING in there. I used their hand santizer on the way out… and in addition to my hands...rubbed it all over my clothes and hair. IKKY.

Be warned. Please read the public records. This doctor is the worst! He performed a radical, irreversible surgery on me that has been condemned by ENT doctors since the l930's. My nose is damaged beyond repair. I wasn't the only one, either.

I went to Dr. Trevino for a minor surgical procedure, but instead had a radical irreversible surgery that has ruined my nasal function and my face. I am bewildered, depressed and angry that my trust in his professional position was completely betrayed. I discovered that the surgery he performed on me is highly condemned by most ENT doctors, but it was first and only intervention.
