Dr. Sheldon graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He spent six years in the United States Army, leaving military service with the rank of Major. He was in the 82nd Airborne and trained in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. He is a Senior Partner in the Beaver Medical Group serving as a consultant in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medical. He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Loma Linda University. He has lectured throughout the United States, Asia and Europe and has co-authored seven books on Respiratory Care. He has authored and co-authorized many articles and editorials. He was named "Honored Member of the Year" in 1993 by the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC)., a Fellow of the AARC in 1999 and awarded the Jimmy A Young Medalist, the AARC's most prestigious award, in 2001. He is active in the American Thoracic Society and is a Fellow of the American Collge of Chest Physicians, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and the American Association for Respiratory Care. He is the current Medical Advisor to the California State Respiratory Care Board. He has served for twenty years as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for San Bernardino County's Mounted Posse.
