Dr. Richard Eugene Minter, MD

Dr. Minter helped me find balance with a good med regimen to manage my insomnia and depression. He was always kind.

Dr Minter is a brilliant psychiatrist whose knowledge of the field is exceptional and beneficial to his patients. His approach is straightforward and informative; both of which I appreciate. He quickly responds to phone calls and always provides the help that I need.

I have been working with him for the past 3 years and I never felt real comfortable but just ok. I happened to miss one phone session and he hit me with a $80 fee for that, but when I asked him about it he said it was his policy. After he stated that he hung up on me. I called back and asked why he just hung up on me and he said he terminated our relationship. I am shocked that someone who deals with patients would act like this.

Dr. Minter is a man of science and reason. He has helped me get my life back on track with a medication plan that was thoughtful, methodical, and understandable. He is clear, communicative, and easily available to his patients. HIGHLY recommend.

My experience with Dr. Minter over the last few years has not been terribly good. He only wants to hear the answers to what he asks explicitly - does not care for any detail relating to your explanation. Only cares about what physical and/or psychological effect the drug(s) he last prescribed had. He then immediately goes to his prescription pad and writes an increase in dosage or a prescription for a new drug. It is difficult to find a psychiatrist - but I am now looking. A patient/doctor relationship (particularly with these types of medical issues) must be make the patient feel at ease. This is not the case for me.

I have been a patient of Dr Minter for many years and have received excellent care. He knows exactly the right questions to ask and adjusts my medication accordingly. If it were not for him I may not even be alive.

Wow. Honestly he didn't take the time to actually understand my situation or what I was trying to convey. He did however immediately start writing a prescription. For what? Who knows. Didn't even try to describe what it was for or what he though needed to be treated... Personally, I think that someone who doesn't listen and just tries to drug you, should not be in practice any long.

He seems to be very good at what he does. He always seems to know exactly what I need. Very knowledgeable about his medicine.

He didn't listen to what I had to tell him. He heard me, but didn't work with me at all from my side. Was insistent that his knowledge was absolute - wont work with what you yourself would like to do - was treated like an object on an assembly line. Overall I would also say AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Nice enough building and nice staff. But what does that matter when the practicing Dr. is awful.

I think people writing these reviews have some bias based on the fact that Dr. Minter's bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. He rarely smiles but becomes more friendly as he asks questions. I found his diagnosis to be accurate and his treatment very helpful, and I am grateful for him. He does charge for no-shows and won't submit claims to insurance. It is my understanding that in Columbus few psychiatrists do file claims for insurance...they're so few of them that they don't have to.
