He was rude and arrogant. He just very quickly examined me in a careless and offhanded way. Then he wrote an Rx for some cream and sent me packing. He would not let me say much about my symptoms. He constantly interrupted me. He was disrespectful and demeaning. The entire appointment took only 5 minutes. I could not get anything more from him. Dr. Averill is a TERRIBLE doctor.
Doesn't wash hands!!

The secretary is friendly. The office smells moldy (apparently due to an old, leaking fish tank in the waiting room). No medical background was taken. The only info asked for was my MA Health ID # and that I fill out a 5X7 piece of paper - Name, Address, SS Number (obviously for billing purposes). The Doc called my name - never looked me in the eye. Ushered me into a small, dank office with a desk, small exam table and a chair. He asked why I was there....the entire time looking down as he was writing...never making eye contact. I told him I had requested a Skin Cancer Screening due to sun exposure, as I had never had my skin checked. His response, "What else"? I said, well I suspect I have Rosacea. He never looked up, but began writing a Rx for a Rosacia Cream and telling me how to use it. He then said, "What else"? I told him my main concern was the Skin Cancer Screening. He said, "Why, do you have moles that have changed"? I told him I had a history of sun exposure and sun burn over many years and had used tanning beds. He said, "What is someone your age doing using tanning beds - that's just stupid"!? I told him it was in my younger years, and I now knew better. He said, "Well show me a mole you're worried about". I showed him two on my chest, which he casually looked at - without a light, or magnifyer. I lifted up up my shirt to reveal my back (no johnny) which he also looked at casually, and said, "Well, come back in 3 months and I'll take a closer look". He handed me the Rx. for Rosacia Cream, ushered me to the office door, and called his next patient. No hand washing. I approached his Secretary to get an appointment card for 3 months from now. She handed me his card, that said "Call in June". This Doctor may have been a good old for him to give up the Country Doctor at one time, but it's time he Retire....I would NEVER go back there, and would NEVER recommend him to anyone I care about.

Took 8 weeks to obtain an appointment, of course the rash is gone by then and he refuses to look at photos, is curt and rude, horrible bedside manner. Told me I was lucky he takes mass health, billed Mass health for his visit and did nothing !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wouldn't see this guy again if you paid me to do so. About as much compassion as a box of rocks !
