Dr. Robert Matthew Monger, MD

I've had rheumatoid arthritis for 48 years. I've been seeing Dr Monger for over 15 years now, seeing him every 6 months, and every single appointment has been a positive experience. Dr Monger is a great listener. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've been in tears telling him about my RA pain and he makes sure to hand me plenty of Kleenex. Whatever my issues are, he validates and addresses them with suggestions. We talk about my options and he always lets me know the final decision is mine. He's always very upbeat and cheerful. I literally cannot think of one bad thing about the man...lol He's just the perfect doctor! I'm so glad he's been taking care of me all these years!

This doctor seems to make up his mind all about you at a glance, doesn't listen, is patronizing, offered no advice beyond what I'm already doing and ignored me when I told him I'm already doing it, took me off my other doctor's prescriptions but offered no alternative solutions, and this after an eternity to even get an appointment. In short, if you're not a textbook case, avoid.

Must wait weeks and weeks to get an appointment. Once I was able to see Dr. Monger, it was a painful and disappointing experience. He began by criticizing the number of medications I am taking though he didn't ask what they were for. Seems to have made up his mind about me before he even met me. Didn't help me at all. Just looked in my mouth and listened to my heart. Certainly didn't listen to me. Mouth and heart had nothing to do with the problems I'm experiencing. Did not refer me to another specialist who might address my problems with pain in my back and hips. Didn't even discuss the possibility that arthritis might be related to my problems. Would never recommend.

I have been seeing Dr Monger since 2009 and I have been very pleased with how I have been treated by him and his staff. They have all been very helpful to me, always answer any questions I have. They go above and beyond when it comes to dealing with insurance issues and any paperwork that I may need. Dr Monger has always been courteous and takes time to listen to me and explain anything I ask him to explain. He stays in close contact with my medical doctor and they work together on my treatment plan. Will continue to go to him and I have recommended him to others, and will continue to do so.

I was not happy. I don't feel this doctor listens or cares. He nods his head a lot, but then does nothing. Provided no education about my condition.
