Robert Allen, M.D. is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, where he ranked first in his graduating class. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and completed his fellowship in hematology and oncology at Emory University. He has been in practice at Piedmont Hospital with Atlanta Hematology & Oncology since 1985. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and a Fellow in the American College of Physicians. He has served as medical director for Hospice Atlanta, and as Chairman of the Cancer Committee and Nutrition Committee at Piedmont Hospital. He currently lectures in the Physicians Assistant Program for Mercer University. He is an active member of Decatur First United Methodist Church, where he has volunteered with the Appalachia Service Project.
