Dr. Robert Shannon Sterling, MD

I had the worst experience with Dr. Sterling not once, but twice during my second pregnancy. He made me feel pathetic and told me to "tough it out" after I complained of increased c section pain... 8 days after surgery. Visits with him are so quick that its almost like he can't be bothered. He doesn't take the time to answer important questions.

I had my first daughter with Dr Sterling and at my 30 week appt the ultrasound showed she had a large amount of fluid on her brain. He was very concerned and wanted me to be seen by a specialist immediately. Amd if a specialist could not get me in ASAP he was going to personally admit me into the hospital so that someone HAD to see me. My appt was at 3 pm and he called me within 30 mins of leaving his office and had me into a specialist the next morning. I was SO grateful for Sterling. 3 years later were having baby #2 with Sterling and I am still just as happy with him and his office. Hes very thorough, takes time to answer questions and listen to your concerns, even if you think they might be silly. He makes you feel comfortable.

Dr. Sterling is a fantastic doctor. I had a bad experience when I had my first child and decided to find a new OB. Dr. Sterling took the time to listen and knew how concerned I was with having my second child. He was very forward and eased my mind on this delivery. I went into labor a day before I was to be induced and he was checking on me constantly and made sure everything went well with the delivery. After delivery he came by my room every morning to check on us. I am very pleased with him as my doctor and highly recommend him to anyone looking for an OB in the tulsa area!

Dr Sterling is certainly friendly and prompt, but we didn't meet him until appointment #3. His PA, Megan, explained NOTHING to us, we assumed everything was ok because she didn't say it wasn't. Dr Sterling has barely explained more. With this being my first child, I don't even know what to ask. Our last appointment we were informed we were not on the schedule, even tho we scheduled our appointment before we left the prior visit. We are halfway through the pregnancy and they just now discussed financing with us. The lady over financing was very rude and said she didn't have the info together because we weren't on the schedule, like that was our fault. We have decided to choose a different Dr. I would certainly hate to get to delivery and have these sorts of things happen.

Dr Sterling and his staff are always professional and caring I have seen him for the past 3 years and am now currently seeing him for my pregnancy he has been great for my past surgery and so far in my pregnancy if I have a problem and I call in his nurse called me right back and get me whatever I need best experience with a doctor so far

When was asking for good ob/gyn dr everyone told me that Dr. Sterling is the dr I was looking for. The first prenatal visit I had was awesome when he came in and introduced his self from that point I felt comfortable being there. Dr offices don't make you fell comfortable but his office did. My first visit my bp was high and so he told me he wanted to see me again in two weeks to check it again. During my pregnancy I had a some bleeding and I called him and he got me in the next day. He seen me the next morning and everything looked good and reassured everything is okay. When I was induced To have my baby got back in the room hooked me to all the monitors and ivs and not vary long after that he came up and checked me and broke my water and he said I would have my baby before night time. He told me he wouldn't make me lay there for 15 hrs like I did with my first pregnancy( different dr) that made me feel great to know that. So when it came time to have the baby he came in and asked if… I was to have a baby I said not yet just a lil more sleep.. He set down by my husband which they were talking about sports nothing new but my husband had sports center on. When the nurses got me already to push he looked at my husband and said I got to go play catcher. But he made my delivery so easy but yet funny.. My labor was only 71/2 hrs half the time with my first.. Loved him for my dr will recommend him to everyone that needs and ob/gyn dr. He does ultrasounds every time you go it's nice to see your baby every time. He still is my dr and won't switch for nothing. His staff is wonderful and I loved his nurse Lindsey she is wonderful..

This is my 2nd pregnancy & Dr. Sterling has been very thorough during all of my ultrasounds. He recently found that my unborn child would require surgery after I give birth. He called me personally & did not make me wait in a waiting room for results. He encouraged me to take progesterone injections to prolong the pregnancy due to unexpected early delivery with my 1st pregnancy. If he hadn't recommended the injections & followed up with thorough ultrasounds I probably wouldn't be 30 weeks along now. I'm thankful to have switched to Dr. Sterling & would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Sterling never listened to me and never took notes. He kept trying to pressure me into procedures, vaccines, and test that I explained why I didn't want, thought I didn't need and were totaly uncalled for. He claimed one test would be covered by insurance and he was completely wrong and it cost me and more importantly to note is that the insurance company never pays for that even after your deductible is met. He always made it feel like I was wasting his time asking questions like he needed to move and make more money. After 3 visits within one year he still could not rememeber anything about me, especially since he didn't take notes. I don't trust him and I would be terrified if he had to make a life alterning decision for me. He is too quick to jump to surgery, but at least his office staff is friendly.

I am pregnant with my first baby and Dr. Sterling and his staff have been wonderful. I would recommend Dr. Sterling to any woman looking for a ob/gyn.
