Dr. Ron Chay is a native Staten Islander. He attended medical school at St. George's University School of Medicine. He received his M.D. in 2000 with honors, elected Iota Epsilon Alpha. He completed his internal medicine residency including chief medical resident at Stony Brook University School of Medicine. He completed nephrology training as a chief fellow in 2006, also at Stony Brook University Hospital.

In 2003, Dr. Chay was board certified in Internal Medicine and in 2006, he was board certified in Nephrology. Dr. Chay also became one of only 1243 U.S. physicians to be designated a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension. Dr. Chay has published several abstracts in the American Journal of Kidney Disease, Journal of American Society of Nephrology and the American Journal of Transplantation. Topics included hyperparathyroidism following renal transplantation and steroid sparing renal transplant outcomes.

Dr. Chay also practiced hospital medicine at Staten Island University …Hospital and was a clinical instructor at SUNY Downstate Department of Medicine. In 2009 he was proud to open the private practice of Kidney and Hypertension Medicine, P.C. He is an attending physician at Staten Island University Hospital and Richmond University Medical Center. He is currently an active member of the American Society of Nephrology and Richmond County Medical Society

I called the office for an appointment and got to see the PA right away. She is very knowledgeable and explained a lot to me and made me an appointment to see Dr Chay the next time after she ordered more tests. She did keep me informed as results came in, and I saw Dr Chay this past week, and he is very reassuring and explained everything that is going on with my kidneys and we have a plan going forward. They make a great team, and very accessible for questions

Just met with dr chay for the first time he is treating my mom let me say we are very impressed with him !! She was seeing another dr that was not taking her serious and thank god he came with high referrals he is working with her dr and now she’s finally is getting answers ! he came to hospital and was very professional and has bedside manners treated her with respect I highly recommend him and he has a very professional and compassionate staff!

Made appointment to see doctor chay. When i got to office doctor chay not in office only a PA. She told me it was viral. I.ended up next day at urgent care and doctor there told me i have bronchitis. Woild not recomend this office at all. Please note i was not advised that the Pa was gping to see me and not tbe doctor.

I had recently seen Dr. Chay and his PA for my high blood pressure and diabetes. I had seen my regular internist who hasn't been able to control either with medications, and after a few visits with Dr. Chay and Jamie, I am happy to see a big improvement in how I feel and how my diabetes and blood pressure is controlled.

I have been a patient under his care for over 3 years and I have never met or seen him. I am not sure if he is alive or not. But not to worry there is a teenager making the decisions at the office.

This is the best medical practice. Dr. Chay is an excellent Doctor and takes great care to make you understand all your concerns. His staff is amazing and well trained. I never wait for an appointment. If I show up on time or early why shouldn't I expect to be seen at the ageed upon time! Excellent care and a smart pleasant staff are difficult to come by in the Medical Community. This should be the norm not the exception!

What I like most about Dr. Chay is he listens to me.I don't feel rushed,and I know that he cares about me and trully wants to get me better.
