Dr. Ronald Jerome Pang, MD

Dr. Pang is excellent in terms of professional knowledge. However, he is notorious for his tardiness, not always for professional reasons. It's a big joke among the staff at the endoscopy clinic he is a part of because he is NEVER on time; he's almost always at least an hour late, even for his first procedure. He is not always empathetic to the argument that his patient's time is valuable. Once when I complained about the long waits in his office and the resulting high parking lot fees, he told me to park on the street (and street parking was always full)!

I was diagnosed for a condition that had me extremely anxious. The office staff was very accomodating and moved up my appointment with Dr. Pang to discuss my concerns. He was very reassuring and took the time to answer all my questions. He performed an endoscopy and the procedure itself went smoothly.

My father saw Dr. Ronald Pang for gall stone issues several years ago. Not only did this doctor fail to complete the scheduled stone removal procedure, which he later let slip was due to a judgement error on his part, he also kept us waiting post-procedure for well over an hour without any explanation. It took the presiding anesthesiologist (who was leaving for the day and noticed we were still waiting in the recovery room) angrily demanding that Dr. Pang fulfill his responsibility and debrief the family immediately for the man to finally show up. And he showed up with a completely different demeanor, from his normally curt clinical manners to warm, jovial and downright effusive! Why the 180? Guilty conscience or a split bedside personality? Anyhow, we are grateful the experience did not turn out worse, as shortly after we learned from a colleague that Dr. Pang had performed the same procedure on said colleague's friend and wound up puncturing something and causing massive… bleeding requiring emergency surgery. That poor patient's health thereafter was severely impacted.My father eventually consulted and sought treatment from several leading and truly excellent gastro specialists in the state (Dr. Naoky Tsai and Dr. Linda Wong). He got his problem resovled easily. My father also fired the family doctor who gave him this and other crappy referrals.I cannot stress the importance of having a good family doctor/general practicioner. My experience is good doctors tend to refer patients to other good doctors, while crappy doctors tend to refer patients to other crappy doctors. It's true as the saying goes, "birds of a feather flock together."

Dr. Pang took a long time examining me and going over symptoms, test results, interpreting x-rays, and then giving me instructions for things I could do to alleviate my symptoms. He was very careful, palpating my abdomen and very thorough with his explanations

On a routine Colonoscopy Dr. Ronald Pang punctured my colon and failing to take appropriate action caused me to go into Septic Shock and into emergency surgury with a 30% chance of survival. Emgergency medical team removed 12" of my colon, was on a colonscomy bag for 8 weeks. I'm weak, and am slowly recoverying. I will never go see him again, not even so much as an apology I saw death with Dr. Pang.
