I have been a patient of Doctor Battans for 20 plus years. Excellent Doctor.

He suggested me to increases my does if I feel my thyroid is going up. I was overdosed for 2 months and no one ever gave me info about the overdose symptoms. He doesn't remembers your history or takes care to look into the file before talking to you.

I only saw him twice for hypothyroidism that was coming and going, tried on synthroid prior to seeing him and got sick, by the time i saw him i was off synthroid and my thyroid was back to normal, he gave me no explanation and just had me keep getting blood tests, all normal, took an er doc while i was there for another problem that it was lithium causing everything.

I have a multinodular goiter with a dominant nodule. So far, I have waited four weeks and still have not received a call regarding an appointment. I have called their office, my primary doctor's office has contacted them approximately three times, all to no avail. They keep saying they will call and they have 100 new patient referrals. I'm sorry, but this is an unacceptable way to run a medical practice. I was in to see my ENT for a Meniere's Disease follow up and the very kind and busy doctor did the fine needle biopsy to get the ball rolling. At least I know that came out normal, but I still need the goiter treated. I can honestly say that I would rather go somewhere else where I can get an appointment quickly, even if I have to wait some time to see the doctor.I don't like being treated like crap.

If you are looking for a mainstream, old-school medical doctor who sticks to the book, then this is your guy. If you happen to take ANY nutritional supplements or, God forbid, compounded medicines (prescribed by my doctor, filled by a local professional compounding pharmacist), then he will not accept you as his patient. I wish I had known this before, as it would have saved us both time and aggravation. He said to be his patient I would have to stop taking everything (including my thyroid prescription!), wait some time, get fresh tests, then see what official, factory medicines he would be willing to do. He even said my low vitamin D (29, in the summer no less) was perfectly fine. Yikes! He was very nice in explaining all this, and he did not charge me for our visit. I am looking for a more open minded doctor. Good luck with your own search. I hope this saves someone some trouble.

While Dr. Battan's staff is less than optimal, this is one doc for whom I am willing to tolerate that. Dr. Battan is not chatty and cajoling but extremely sensitive to emotional shadings in answers to his questions. He is very efficient and professional with unassuming elegant mannerisms. He relaxes me more that most docs because I feel like I'm in very competent hands.

Poor bedside manner as others have noted, but he saved my life. He knows his stuff. He was able to regulate my thyroid and parathyroid when other failed. He overdosed me on the meds and I ended up in the emergency room. Best to have any blood tests done 10 days before any visit so the lab results are in and then they can be discussed, otherwise not much to go on.

Horrible Physicians. All he does when I come in is make me drink a glass of water and feels my throat. Then sends me for a pricy MRI and never shares the results until the next visit 6 months later. And even then, he just tells me nothing. You would think he would do that and have the MRI prior to seeing me so we could discuss it then and not months later. HORRIBLE and VERY rude staff. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!
