An allergy & immunology specialist is a physician who is specially trained in matters pertaining to chronic and acute allergies, as well as deficiencies of the immune system. The doctor will determine whether an allergy, which attacks our immune system, is present. They'll also determine the cause, whether it be environmental triggers like trees and pollen, food-borne like peanuts and dairy, the venom of insects like bees, or a medication like penicillin.
In addition to determining the allergen causing an immunological response in a patient, the specialist will treat the symptoms caused by the reaction.

He had another doctor prescribe thyroid meds for me which I took for a few years along with testosterone and estrogen cream. ,He did a thyroid test and despite all numbers being well in the normal range, he told me that it really didn't indicate what I needed. I asked if it would be safe since I had previously been diagnosed with cancer twice. He assured me that it was safe and that is all that I needed. I finally took my self off of the creams and tried to get off of the thyroid meds after an endocrinologist told me that I was almost hyper instead of having hypothyroidism... however, I became exhausted and gained weight. I believe that my body began to rely on the meds at this point. I have been taking it for years now and am still exhausted. I don't really feel that he ever addressed the cause. Or even looked for it. He just prescribed the things that he prescribed for everyone.
I learned a lot of great allergy information. Dr. Roby was working with offending foods way before anyone else stated that it might have a role in allergy control. Dr. Roby taught me all about the body and its allergic response to allergens. He helped me understand how to use allergy control when things get bad such as in the spring. I would recommend Dr. Roby to anyone!
I was referred to a business associate to Dr. Roby for my allergies in early 2000. At that time he was making videos of visits. I referred a friend of mine and she never went back because he was checking her backside out. I never noticed that personally but a few years later he sent me an email with an invitation to go to a trail ride with my horse and he would pay to have my horse picked up and delivered. He advised that he stays in an RV vs. the others that camp. Now that I have done a fair amount of trail riding, that is ridiculous! I suspect a ruse! His allergy methods are ridiculous...I had 6 vials and he left it up to me to figure out which would work, which created several phone calls to figure out what dose for the emotions (progesterone). Also, he had me on testosterone at such high levels that when I went to a highly respected Thyroid doctor, she said my Testosterone levels were higher than a man's. He gave me a cortisone shot that caused me to bloat up all over...in his defense, I have had that reaction recently. He comp'd me Dr. visits when I was unemployed. My favorite nurse left but I never asked why since I saw her later. He is CREEPY, but the only thing I took away (and I believe it is true, is that you are addicted to what you are allergic to.
