Dr. Sami Mounayer has the following 2 specialties
A neurologist is a physician who diagnoses and treats disorders of the nervous system which is comprised of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. These doctors do not perform surgery, but refer patients to neurological surgeons when they determine that surgical intervention is necessary.
Some of the conditions that neurologists diagnose and treat are epilepsy, aneurysms, hydrocephalus, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal disc herniation, and spinal disease.
In addition to using diagnostic tests like MRI, CT scans, EEG and EMG, neurologists also employ neurological testing to gauge muscle strength and movement, balance, reflexes, sensation, memory, speech, and other cognitive abilities.
A psychiatrist is a doctor with specific training in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.
He or she can not only provide the counseling necessary to both diagnose and treat a patient, but can also prescribe medication when needed. In some cases, a psychiatrist will only provide the medication and the counseling will be provided by another healthcare specialist, like a certified counselor or psychologist.
Like other doctors, psychiatrists employ diagnostic tools like CT scans and MRI in order to observe the structure and function of a patient's brain.
Once a diagnosis is made, these specialists may use behavior or cognitive therapy in order to address the patient's condition, or a multitude of other types of therapy, in conjunction with or in place of medication.

I have never been to a physician that was as arrogant as this man-think he needs to retire! Did not want to tell me about possible side effects of the meds he was prescribing, told me I didn't need to know?!Really? Did not even discuss results of my MRI or other tests-never returned to him. I am surprised Beaumont has him on staff.
I would not recommend this doctor. After going through the trama of my daughter being injured in a car accident he made everything worse. First thing he said to us was to yell at us that if we thought he was there to fill out insurance papers we could get ourselves another doctor! Took weeks to get her MRI. I called repeatedly to be treated like crap and talked down to. Had no idea if her neck or skull was fractured and to be treated like that! Keep looking this doctor will only raise your blood pressure not worth the grief
Rudest most arrogant Dr ever. Starts off by yelling at my daughter and I over insurance papers and refused to fill any out! That's who pays you! Made us wait weeks after tests and then was told she's fine over the phone, no consult for questions. I waited over a month for results to see if my daughters neck and skull were fractured! Find another Dr cause this one isn't worth the grief he will put you through
Surprised to read negatives as my experience was very different (perhaps dissatisfied patients are most likely to review). He reviewed my previous issues and had up-to-date information. He spent more time with me than I am used to with most doctors I have seen.He was very thorough and listened to my concerns, as well as suggesting I speak with my regular doctor about something unrelated which he had noticed during my visit!
He is a good doctor but does not think outside the box and stays fixed on the disease at hand. Turns out I had other underlying issues that he did not even attempt to deal with. Was just focused on the MS. This is the BEST office staff out there. They are the most caring group of people. I hated to leave him because of the office staff.
