Dr. Santiago Horgan, MD

Be very careful and specific with your doctor. I made the mistake of relying on one doctor and and the procedure was not followed in my case. Instead of a partial esophagus removal they took the whole thing. It is a disaster. Taking out the esophagus and pulling your stomach up is a living torture. And the goods were as you go on. Food has become an evil to me now. I would recommend trying radiation and/or chemo instead of removal of the esophagus. Just a warning.

I recently had surgery performed by Dr. Horgan and I couldn’t be more pleased. His bedside manner was wonderful, he is kind, witty with a great sense of humor. He explained everything in detail and kept my family informed. My surgery went very smoothly. He is extremely gifted. I highly recommend this physician.

This Dr. is among one of the most incompetent and arrogant Dr.'s I've ever experience. I saw him regarding some questions regarding a surgery I had over 15 years ago by another Dr. It took 3 months to see him then after waiting over an hour for my appt he rushed into the waiting room with his resident, who took all notes and basically acted more like his assistant then a resident. My appt lasted about 10 minutes from which he deducted that I needed surgery. 2 months later when I went for surgery, it was explained in the "time out" a procedure conducted just before getting wheeled into surgery that requires the dr to explain all details of the surgery. Not only was it odd that he wasn't the surgeon, the procedure was completely wrong for what I needed. I litterally had them remove the intravenous and I left the hospital. I filed a complaint and seriously considered suing, but decided it wasn't worth my time. Dr. Savias, who's responsible for patient care, met with me to… discuss the situation a few weeks later and completely admitted that they screwed up. Never once did I hear from Horgan. The main is worse than bad, he's dangerous and a liability to the hospital.

Started out good.. ended up with the old meter after being shown the new one. Staff after surgery real short! And hurried...

I had upmost trust in Dr. Horgan's surgical expertise. My trust in him was well rewarded as I had excellent results with minimum pain and maximum healing.

Dr. Horgan is a great surgeon, however, his bedside manner leaves much to be desired.

Please don't go to him, you will get no attention from him or from his staff, and when you try to make an appointment for follow up be prepared for them to refuse to even answer the phone. It is SOO stressful to deal with his office. I am terrified about the surgery because their office has made it crystal clear how little they care.

I was referred to Dr. Horgan for a surgical procedure that was too comes to be done at Kaiser who is my insurance carrier. I had the read the reviews on Dr. Horgan and also did a little of background research on him. I must say that when I read the reviews I was soooo scared that when I went to my consult my blood pressure was through the roof!! It did take some time for DR to see me but I was told he was a little behind. When he did come he greeted me by my name and had a seat and began discussing my condition. He seemed knowledgable to what was in my medical record and asked me if I had any questions regarding the procedure he was going to perform. I asked him several questions and he gladly answered each and every one of them. I also mentioned to him that I had read about him and said "you're famous" and his response was "I'm not famous, I'm here to do my job and gladly do it". When the visit was over he wrapped up and said "see you the day of surgery". I will be having… surgery in about 3 weeks and I am looking forward to having Dr. Horgan participate in my care.
