Dr. Sara Sam Thomas, MD

My girlfriend made an appointment weeks ago and was called the morning of and told she would not be coming in that day and would have to reschedule. My girlfriend was open to ANY time or day and was told she would not be able to get an appointment for another month. Wish I would have seen the reviews and not wasted the time with this doctor.

this Dr is excellent. Very professional and does not over prescribe. She seems to genuinely care about patients.The office where she works behavioral health in lakewood NJ is just terrible on almost every level. I would not recommend going here unless your insurance pays. The pharmacy is incompetent and rude. The appointment staffers are also incompetent. Speaking to the head of the facility is also a waste of time, he never answers and his recording says he will get back to you within 24 hours. Make that 72 business hours. The front desk people are also not very friendly and appear to not even want to be there.

She is great. Extremely satisfied. Try to get an appointment if you need a psychiatrist. She spent 90 minutes with me.

Been waiting 2 months to get an appointment since I saw she had decent ratings. She doesn't even have the corteousy to call back to schedule an appointment after I've left 4 messages. Gave up on this woman "accepting new patients."

I've had about 5 psychiatrists in the past decade. She's my favorite and I've kept her the longest, 4 years. I'd recommend her to anyone, particularly for OCD, depression and anxiety issues.

I went to Dr. Thomas not knowing what exactly I needed, or what to expect. She listened to everything I had to tell her about what brought to the point of seeking help. She wrote and wrote and when I backtracked she backtracked in her notes and added the information. When i finally finished talking and crying... she began to ask questions that I didn't expect and told me things that I didn't realize. She concluded that therapy was not needed and I felt like I came to the right place. My job ignited severely deep inbedded anxiety which lead to severe depression (which i was oblivious to making it dangerous).Because I'm diabetic all of this was severely effecting my blood sugar and blood pressure where i had to reduce medication for both. She explained the chemical imbalance within my brain without making me feel "crazy." She told me to call her anytime i needed to and gave me a crisis number. She dealt with the depression first but put me on medicine for anxiety as well. Extremely small… dosages at first. I feel she is an excellent doctor. She knows my regular doctor personally and it all works out well. Understand that Dr. Thomas is a small older woman, therefore, she will not take patients who are violent. If a patient becomes even slightly violent she is to end the patient/doctor relationship immediately. So you should ask yourself, how did you behave in Dr. Thomas' presence when she decided to stop taking you as her patient? Dr. Thomas is a real person with a real life. If she is not well or a family member or friend is sick or passes away, of course she will take care of those personal situations. To think that she wouldn't is obsurd. Dr. Thomas is an excellent doctor and well needed in this trying society. I consider her as invaluable.

I am so happy to have found Dr. Thomas. She is wonderful.

I am bipolar as well as cognitively impaired. I made a mistake in taking my dosage and as a consequence refuses to see me any longer. She referred me to Intensive Outpatient Treatment which I am not able to attend. She also failed to call in prescription. Now I have no psychiatrist or anyone to provide future medication. Extremely unreasonable.
