Dr. Sarah Kotchen Rack, MD

Dr. Rack did not take the care of my nephew seriously. Knowing he is a flight risk, a danger to himself and others, and refuses treatment at home, she released him without communicating with his mother on the basis of insurance. She would not take a phone call or call the facilty back for guidance. Insurance stated that they did not have the proper paperwork and all she had to do was authorize it for billing to send the expedited request and she refused. Even though it took 3 days and a city watch to find him and he was found in aggressive psychosis, she discharged him before he could get admitted to the treatment facilty. This is negligence at its finest and shows she does not care about her patients. I do not recommend and physician has been reported to the board and legal.

Our mental healthcare system is struggling in Memphis and we have this lack of empathy physician to thank. She “treats” by throwing medications at the wall and seeing if they stick. She doesn’t return phone calls or even makes an effort to get an understanding of her patients behaviors as a whole by listening to what the family is seeing. Be aware!! She’s not in place to support and treat these patients! She’s in place to collect a paycheck and to continue the broken wheel of an already difficult system.

Rack is more concerned about time, money and drugs than patient. I second the other reviewer that she only sees you for a few seconds. She is not conservative in her approach, she is constantly considering the most aggressive level of care and the most medicine to put you on within your first visit. I saw her for a suspected drug reaction, and she had no interest in letting my body detox the first prescription drug before suggesting I needed 3 different medications. Her assessment and recommendation was such shoddy work, that after complaining to St Francis Hospital, which then the state evaluated my care, finding such error in it, the hospital completely removed my bill. Stay away from this woman, she has an agenda, and it is not your welfare.

She was in the room for less than a minute, no joke, seriously less than a minute, but in that time decided that I should be committed involuntarily. It takes longer to boil a soft boiled egg than the time she spent with me yet she think she's qualified to make an accurate assessment? Worst experience regarding a doctor I've ever had in my lifeâ?¦. hands down.
