Dr. Saurin Rajnikant Popat, MD

Dr. Popat knew to do more testing than my endocrinologist or Roswell. My indeterminate thyroid cells were benign! No surgery needed! He couldn’t have been more caring, knowledgeable or kind! I was so fortunate to be referred to Dr. Popat!

Dr. Popat was thorough, spent 40 minutes explaining every detail of my diagnosis. Recommended testing I had not had before which ultimately averted the need for surgery! I am forever grateful! An excellent MD! Would recommend highly!

After thyroidectomy on mar 6 i woke up hoarse. Was told it would last a couple days. Preop in three weeks dr pop at said vocal chord was week and could take about 4 mo. After 3 mo when it got worse, i went back and he said it could take1 yr to 18 mo. And he couldnt guarantee how much i would get back. 33, 50% or more. I went for a second opinion and was told the vocal chord was paralyzed. And may not come back. Dr pop at did not seem to be interested in my complaints and said i have to be patient. Something happened. A surgical nurse said a nerve could have been nicked. Something happened during th surgery, dr pop at seems to have a different diagnosis when i see him. I am i hostess on a tour bus and cannot do my job

I was over-the-top impressed with Dr. Popat both during my initial consultation and the day of my surgery. He was highly intelligent yet conveyed information in a way that was easy for an ordinary person to understand. My mom said he had great bedside manner when he came out to talk to her while I was in recovery and everyone around the hosptial said he’s the best thyroid surgeon in this area and I was lucky to have him. During my consultation he answered all my questions before I even asked and gave me his full attention without feeling rushed. So thankful for Dr. Popat

My wife had her thyroid removed by Dr.Popat approx. 4.5 years ago. Contained within the thyroid where signs of cancer. Since her family had a history of cancer, we where delighted to have it removed. Years earlier her mother had died from cancer. She started experiencing extreme sore throat discomfort unlike she had never experienced before. We couldn't get an appointment until there was a cancellation to have Dr.Popat examine her throat. Once we saw the doctor we were scolded for taking up his time ( as a surgeon) for such a minor problem and that his time was much too valuable to spend on sore throat issues. In our opinion Dr.Popat may be a good surgeon, but we feel that his bedside manor and true compassion for a patient play an equally important role in providing good medical care. Dr.Popat had never shown these characteristics and we regret we had ever started seeing him.

Had first appointment of the day, but was waiting an hour after he saw 3-4 patients before me. Doctor was confrontational and dismissive. Did not listen to medical information after he demanded "Why are you here?". Refused to discuss cancer treatment because I had two procedures done at a nearby hospital. Was the worst experience that I have ever had with a "medical professional", if you could consider his refusal to treat professional at all.
