Dr. Ball replaced my total knee about 8 weeks ago and I am like a new person. For years I lived the my knee locking and giving out on me. I am so impressed with this surgery. I now walk normally and can get back to an exercise program. You can hardly see my knee scar - everyone I show my knee to is so impressed!

Only physician in San Diego county who would attempt to salvage my leg. I am extremely grateful to still have my leg attached following a pedestrian vs vehicle accident that destroyed a prior total knee replacement.

Dr Ball is an excellent hip surgeon! Waits can be long for in-office appts but Dr Ball still gives you his full attention when you do get in to see him. Highly recommend him!

I had hip replacement surgeries on both sides. Dr. Ball did an outstanding job. His staff is very accomplished too. I sincerely recommend him.

Office staff is not very helpful

It's been 3 years since my hip replacement. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience. I was especially grateful for his PA - Dustyn. He was incredibly supportive, straight forward and caring. The surgery went great, my recovery was amazing. There was and still is a lot of "marketing" speak around whether to have the hip replaced thru an incision in the side or front of the hip. It was Dustyn who finally gave me the straight talk. Most of what you read on the internet is marketing. The bottom line, find a doc that has done whichever procedure at least 2000 times and has great reviews. That is what matters. I had my surgery done on a monday, went home on Wed afternoon and was on a spin bike Thurs (not spin class, no tension - just able to get on the bike and move) - which is astounding. I recovered really quickly and have a beautiful scar on my hip. He does nice work. This is a tough decision and I hope this helps. As a side note, I was 50 when I had the… surgery, I was/am in good shape...reasonable weight and exercised and did my physical therapy before and after. Do the physical therapy - it's critical.

I've had a great experience with Dr. Ball with my hip replacement. He's friendly, patient with explanations, has good assistants, and provided me with an artificial hip experience far exceeding expectations. First, no pain. I had an epidural which I highly recommend. No pain while in the hospital, no pain after leaving. I have a scar on the side of my hip, practically the only evidence I notice three months afterwards, since I now feel like that leg is my "best" leg. I highly recommend spending the month before surgery "pre-habbing" your leg, as I did. I actually got my primary doc to get me a prescription for a physical therapist to help out. The better job you do, the faster you heal afterwards. My own experience included walking my first mile (with a cane) 1 week after surgery, amazing myself. By 3 weeks, no cane was needed. I had to rein myself in a bit, to be sure the healing process wasn't impeded by pushing myself too far. I'm now 3 months after surgery, doing low impact… jogging on occasion, hiking up and down rough trails with no hip problems. Dr. Ball says he has a patient who has run a marathon and another who is a tri-athlete. I don't doubt there are other orthopedists who provide similar success stories with surgical outcomes --this is one operation that modern medicine does really well. However, if you're looking for an excellent surgeon who also has a great bedside manner, consider this man.

I was left crippled after a knee replacment when my dr put a knee implant in that was too big. I had a bad limp and I could not go up and down stairs.Of course the dr. blamed me! Thank God I found Dr. Ball. He corrected the botched surgery and while I am not perfect, I do not limp and I can go up and down stairs now. A talented surgeon, and humble too.

THIS IS THE 'GO-TO' DOC WHO 'FIXES' OTHER SURGEON'S BLUNDERS. DR. BALL IS TRULY A MIRACLE WORKER. YET HE IS A HUMBLE MAN WITH VIRTUALLY NO EGO. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO CORRECT A BOTCHED OPERATION, THERE IS HOPE!

Fantastic surgeon, doctor and person. Doctor Ball is passionate about what he does and it clearly shows in his work. He goes the extra mileto ensure great care. I'm at 9 days out from receiving a Birmingham hip and I'm walking without a crutch or cane since day 5. Even got on the elliptical and spin bike for a few min today. Can't recommend or say enough good things about Doctor Ball and his staff. They are amazing!
