Excellent doctor....but very overbooked.

Dr. Hodges in my opinion is an excellent physician. He has done several surgeries on my back. One of the things many people don't realize is that a surgeon can only fix structural issues. They can't remove pain and they can't fix other situations that aren't related to structural problems. The first surgery I had removed 90% of the sciatic pain I had. The 2nd surgery, in all honesty, was significantly worse. The pain was absolutely horrible. This wasn't Dr. Hodges fault though, he had advised me that controlling the pain was going to be very difficult since I had been on a higher (though nowhere near as high as many) does of pain medications for a significant period of time. I am still recovering and still having multiple issues. My leg pain is back. Oddly, in terms of just basic walking, I noticed basically 0 difference after the 2nd surgery which was very surprising. Some of Dr. Hodges staff are excellent and I can't praise them enough. Some of the staff are not as wonderful. Dr. Hodges like many doctors gives very vague answers and doesn't give guarantees (not that he can). He explains the benefits vs the risks. He is very upfront about those. I believe he is on my side (and for me that is important). Generally, if I have an appointment for say 8AM, I will be there until 9:30 to 10. Obtaining a appointment is easy but often takes weeks to months as he is very busy. I am hoping I improve over where I am at currently. If I do not, I will be in significant pain and misery the rest of my life. We live in a very unfair world especially when it comes to certain injuries and circumstances. The latest surgery will be the last. I will not endure another one unless I am unable to walk.
