Dr. Sean M Milligan has the following 2 specialties
A psychiatrist is a doctor with specific training in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.
He or she can not only provide the counseling necessary to both diagnose and treat a patient, but can also prescribe medication when needed. In some cases, a psychiatrist will only provide the medication and the counseling will be provided by another healthcare specialist, like a certified counselor or psychologist.
Like other doctors, psychiatrists employ diagnostic tools like CT scans and MRI in order to observe the structure and function of a patient's brain.
Once a diagnosis is made, these specialists may use behavior or cognitive therapy in order to address the patient's condition, or a multitude of other types of therapy, in conjunction with or in place of medication.
A neurologist is a physician who diagnoses and treats disorders of the nervous system which is comprised of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. These doctors do not perform surgery, but refer patients to neurological surgeons when they determine that surgical intervention is necessary.
Some of the conditions that neurologists diagnose and treat are epilepsy, aneurysms, hydrocephalus, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal disc herniation, and spinal disease.
In addition to using diagnostic tests like MRI, CT scans, EEG and EMG, neurologists also employ neurological testing to gauge muscle strength and movement, balance, reflexes, sensation, memory, speech, and other cognitive abilities.

I was referred to Milligan by my MD. I had to wait 3 months to get in. The week before my appt, I received my appt reminder call & I told them that he could get my CT & MRI from the hospital to review before my arrival. He didn't! When I arrived, the girl at front desk was rude! The nursing staff was professional & kind and so was he. After he did his office testing & assessment he told me that he would call me back with results and HAS NOT! Also told me that he would see me again in 6 months. I've called 3 times and talked with nurses who continue to tell me that he will call...nothing! I called my MD who called him and only got his nurse that confirmed that there are notes where I've called 3 times and still nothing. It has been 1 month since I saw him and still have been told nothing. I called my MD back today requesting me to be transferred to another neurologist that will give me my diagnoses and treat me back to a healthy lifestyle. If you are that busy that you can't properly care for you patients........then DON"T ACCEPT NEW ONES!!! Very disappointed to be ignored by a Dr. who has the reputation of being the best!
I got in with Dr. Milligan quickly the first time he was in the office with me for about 5 minutes, ordered numerous tests. I waited and waited to hear back from him. After two months I began calling his office every other day to try to get an answer from them. Finally his nurse called me back to tell me yes you have MS and here is what you are taking for it. I would not recommend him as Dr. I think that I deserve to be told my condition in office and how bad it is. I deserve to be told what my options to treat the disease are and how they will affect me. Those are the things a Dr. should discuss with you. You should not just be told this is what you are taking and we will see you again in 5 or 6 months. I feel like I have waisted 5 months of my life waiting on a Dr. who really does not care. If I am to put the quality of my future in a Doctors hands I want to know that he has my best interest at hear. Dr. Milligan is not one of those Doctors.
