Dr. Shahina Hakim, MD

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Hakim as my GI doctor. While I have no complaints regarding the EGD procedure itself, the communication and follow-up process have been extremely frustrating and unprofessional. Dr. Hakim was scheduled to call me for a telehealth appointment, but she didn’t contact me until nearly three hours after our scheduled time. I was understanding the first time. After my EGD, we scheduled a follow up to review the results, including important biopsy findings. Dr. Hakim's office called me and said she needed to reschedule our appointment. I accommodated and rescheduled per her request—again, she failed to call until around three hours late. As a nurse myself, I care for patients all day and cannot simply step away from my responsibilities. I set aside time specifically for these appointments, and it is both disrespectful and unacceptable to have that time disregarded not once, but twice. Since the last missed appointment, I have called the office… multiple times to request a call back and my records. I expressed my disappointment and the urgency of receiving my results, yet two weeks later, I have not received a response, a follow-up, or my medical records. I am still anxiously awaiting important health information that should have already been communicated to me. This level of unresponsiveness and lack of consideration for a patient’s time and concerns is deeply unprofessional. I hope others take this into account when choosing a GI provider.

I’ve seen Dr. Hakim twice and both times she spent ample time with me. She explained my issue, detailed a course of action, and most importantly, she listened to me and answered all of my questions and concerns. Dr. Hakim is an awesome doctor!

I love how much time Dr. Hakim spends with me. She is caring and has a wonderful way of explaining things to me.

I've never dealt with a Doctor who cared so much and spent so much time getting to understand my situation. Dr. Hakim is exactly what doctors should strive to become like.
