Dr. Shakeela Tawwab has the following 2 specialties
- Gynecologic Oncology
Gynecologic oncologists specialize in cancers that occur in the female reproductive system. This includes ovarian cancer, cervical cancer and endometrial cancer, as well as the less commonly talked about female reproductive cancers like vulvar cancer, vaginal cancer and fallopian tube cancer.
In addition to diagnosing the stage of your cancer and recommending treatment options, they’ll provide care throughout your treatment and help you manage your symptoms. They’ll often work closely with a pathologist and a radiologist to properly diagnose you and determine if your cancer is shrinking or spreading throughout treatment. They’re even trained to administer chemotherapy and to perform surgery to remove cancer when necessary.
- Obstetrics and Gynecology
An obstetrician & gynecologist, or OB/GYN, is a physician who cares for women throughout their pregnancies, straight through to the delivery of their baby (obstetrician). They also specialize in annual care, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the female reproductive system (gynecologist). Many physicians specialize in both of these fields in order to provide complete overall health services to women at every stage of life.

I had went into Dr. Tawwab office for a yearly exam. Got the pap smear and was told to do a follow-up which I scheduled before I left. When I went back they had no knowledge of where my results for my pap smear was. I can hear them in the small hall saying to call to get another copy because NO-ONE could find my results. She came back in and said that it was fine. But could not show me anything, because she had nothing. I NEVER WENT BACK TO THIS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL PLACE THEY CALL A DR. OFFICE.
Dr. Tawwab was recommended to me by my primary doctor and I couldn't be happier with the results. Since my uterus was enlarged and I had multiple fibroids, I needed a total abdominal hysterectomy done by a C section incision. Dr. Tawwab was informative about every step of the process which helped to ease my nervousness about the surgery. I had my six week check up today and I feel amazing! For years, I was fretting over whether or not I should have this surgery. But now I feel like I should have had it done a long time ago. I feel better than I have in years! Thank you to Dr. Tawwab and staff for being professional, kind and gentle.
Dr. Tawwab changed my life. I had a weird fibroid in a terrible location and exhausted my second and third opinions about the best way to move forward. I was in incredible pain. Dr. Tawwab was my gyno, but she was also the first to identify a problem with herniated disks, and she prompted a much needed MRI - along with a very needed hysterectomy. I had hoped for less, but she made a much better call and I defer to her expertise. I had not been on any prescriptions for my pain, which lasted for more than a year. Narcotics make me sick and the last thing I wanted to deal with was a dependency issue. Dr. Tawwab respected my choice and focused on identifying the problem instead of numbing it. She made immediate corrections instead of kicking the can down the road. Dr. Tawwab is a woman of few words and she makes sure to be clear and precise when offering her best opinion. Her demeanor is direct and focused. I appreciate her candor and clarity. I can never experience the milestones she crossed to become such an adept surgeon and I'm ever grateful for abilities. She is an artist and a healer, and the marks her work left on my body are so small. They all healed quite well. Post hysterectomy: I'm tremendously surprised at how little pain I am in, and I haven't needed much relief beyond prescription strength Ibuprofen. Every bit of good advice I have received from Dr. Tawwab, and nurses, has proven to be correct. I'm on the mend, so mindful of the great care I received. My surgery took place at Florida Hospital. Everyone there took great care of me, above and beyond my expectations. I don't make it a habit to be sick or in need of an operation, and I don't have much to compare this experience against, but Florida Hospital provided the best care I have ever received in my lifetime. Pre-op, recovery, in the hospital room - everyone was so compassionate and knowledgeable. I am so impressed. Thank you to the nurses who cared for me and explained everything. My life is so much better. You put me on this road, with Dr. Tawwab.
When I called to make the appointment I explained that I was in pain and thought some fibroids had grown to the point of discomfort and would need an ultrasound and inquired if the doctor did those. The girl scheduling assured me the doctor would handle if it was necessary. Waited almost an hour to the doctor. Explained what was going on and she did an exam. Then she wrote me script for the ultrasound , apparently the doctor will handle meant she would send me somewhere else, and explained that fibroids can grow and cause discomfort, repeating what I said to her at the beginning the appointment showing that she didn't actually listen to anything I said. Call the next day to schedule the ultrasound and there is no diagnostic on the order so I can't even schedule that. Horrible experience. Still in pain and not one step closer to relief.
