Dr. Shakuntala P Chhabria, MD

THIS IS THE STORY OF THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN MEDICINE I HAVE EVER HAD IN OVER 60 YEARS OF LIFE! We were referred to Dr. Chhabria from our primary care physician for evaluation and management of my progressively worsening, severe upper back pain. We arrived early for the appointment, were registered and began to wait to meet with Dr. Chhabria. After 45 minutes of waiting, we asked the front of house staff how much longer we could expect to wait. We were simply told the "Doctor is busy and will be with you when it is your turn". We understand that good medical care takes time and that medical professionals can run late, but this was an unacceptable answer. Finally after 90 minutes of waiting, we were brought back to a patient room. Dr. Chhabria came in and did not appear to care or listen to my concerns at all. In total, she spent no more than 10 minutes with me, wrote a prescription and sent me for imaging of my back with request that we follow up in one month. After the visit, I… filled the prescription for a medication that she did not tell me would sedate me heavily. I was so heavily sedated that I could not perform my job involving heavy machinery operation, play with my grandchildren or properly enjoy my daughter's wedding. I was never given an explanation about what the medication was for, how long I was to take it for and what I might expect as far as side effects. Terrible and dangerous lack of communication! As she requested, we went for 2 different radiological studies. The first we were later told was of very little utility since an xray of the back does not help diagnose damage to the nervous system. The second one we did was an MRI of the spine without contrast. We were hopeful that this would help explain why I was having such severe back pain and arm weakness. As instructed, we arrived early for our follow up appointment. Once again, we waited for over 90 minutes to meet with Dr. Chhabria. When she entered the room, she told us that the MRI was the wrong study and that we needed to repeat the study, this time with contrast. When we told her that this was all very expensive and did she really think we needed to spend the extra money for the additional MRI, she told us it was our decision to do what we wanted. In the 5-10 minutes she spent with us, she never gave us any explanations, plan of care or apology for her lateness, negligence in ordering the wrong studies or for not communicating about the prescriptions she gave me. In the end, I was sent all medical bills for both the imaging studies which were not helpful and also for the office visits. The bill for the first visit to establish care where she spent at most 10 minutes with us was $750. The follow up was $450 where she spent 5-10 minutes. Luckily I have found a new neurologist now that is professional, on time and is helping me find answers and has already made me feel better. DR. SHAKUNTALA CHHABRIA IS THE WORST DOCTOR I HAVE EVER MET AND THE WORST MEDICAL EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD! PLEASE KEEP YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVED ONES AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR!!!

Knowledgeable Doctor! Friendly staff!

I was admitted to the hospital on a Wednesday afternoon with severe pain in body, numbness in my face and hands and seeing double. Dr. Chhabria was assigned to my case. The first time I ever saw her, she walked into my room, she told me that she was really busy and didn't have time to answer any questions. She told me that I either had MS or cancer. She then walked out and left me sitting in there in shock. Her bedside manor is horrible and had no concern for the patient at all. She was the worst doctor I have ever met. As a neurologist, she is dealing with very sensitive cases and should be much more compassionate to her patients. I would not recommend her to anyone.

I had been ill with a horrible headache for almost 3 weeks before I could finally get in to see Dr Chhabria. I arrived 15 min. early only for my wait time to be 2 hours and 45 min. long. I would have left if I felt I had another option. Unfortunately I have an HMO. Her bedside manners were poor and I will NEVER return.

This doctor only cares about getting money and not the well being of her patient. Performs unnecessary tests that are expensive only to receive the money from insurance. I would not recommend this doctor. I feel they do not keep notes in their computer and can't reference when you have called in the past to inform them of an issue. The staff is rude when you call, they put you on hold forever and when they come on, they tell you to call back later cause they are too busy. Maybe they should staff appropriately and the doctor never seems to be there when you need to speak to her.

The Dr. is not mean. She is reserved. I think it is her upbringing and culture. Though I will admit that the wait time is long, she does spend alot of time with the patient in the room. She asks alot of questions and she offers alot of information. Though she is not able to "cure" my autistic daughter, I know she can only do so much with autism. The office staff are not mean. They are busy and do what they can. No one was ever mean to myself or my daughter. They are just not social....that's ok because I am not there to socialize, I am there for my daughter.

I felt that the doctor was okay, but the staffs are very discourteous. I had an appointment scheduled for 14th of a month (scheduled it two weeks before). I got a call from the office staff on 11th that the doctor is not available on 14th and asked me to reschedule to 22nd. After discussion, she gave me an appointment for 17th. When i went on time on 17th, she says that my appointment is for 22nd. After small argument, she said that doctor has taken an emergency patient and that's the reason she cannot see me now and asked me to wait for an hour. she should have given me the actual reason in the beginning, instead of arguing that my appointment is only on 22nd and blaming me for coming on 17th. I got irritated and cancelled my appointment and came back. office is not clean at all; doctor must do something about the office and staff to retain patients; i will not recommend this doctor just because of discourteous staff!!!

Dr is rude and has a bad attitude. Stay away

The doctor is a nice enough person but my experience in over a year is that she is somewhat disconnected. If you need a refill on a day that she's not in (in my case, a Wednesday) you just have to wait.She told me she doesn't call in for prescriptions.The recept/clerk took 5 days to get my prescript right and then blamed it on Walgreens.

Service was ok. I could barely understand her and had to keep saying "I'm sorry ?" She was NOT what I wanted in a doctor for my child a ...
