Dr. Burch is not very "friendly" ... His bedside manner is somewhat cold and clinical.

Dr. Burch is AMAZING! For anyone considering back surgery, Dr. Burch took away my pain and gave me my life back

Probably the best surgeon I have seen. Dr. Burch is very knowledgeable and extremely skilled. On top of that, Dr. Burch is very friendly and very humble, despite his high position and degrees. I hope I could recover after his high level surgery on my back. Prior to seeing Dr. Burch, my 2nd spinal surgeon said that "no one would ever dig into my back again" due to a complexity and adhesion right above the spinal nerve. But Dr. Burch was able to remove that adhesion next to my spinal nerve and corrected many other problems at time of a 2-day spinal surgery.

I appreciate the doctor's straightforward manner.

Dr. Burch always gives me an opportunity to ask about different options and makes me feel like my concerns and questions are wise.

Dr Burch performed a L4 L5 discectomy due to horrible pain I had been experiencing for several months. Dr Burch did a great job and is a highly skilled surgeon. Dr Burch also has a very friendly and calming bedside manner and I would highly recommend him to anyone considering spine surgery.

I was over the moon when Marilyn said she was no longer looking after Dr. Burch and Clarissa was now taking care of him. Clarissa helped me back when Marilyn had her jaw surgery. I thought management finally made the correct moves and Clarissa helped me schedule my MRI at an outside facility. It was a matter of minutes she called back and gave me the date. She is not only efficient but she remembered who I was! Marilyn bless her heart is sweet but she lacks efficiency and her follow through needs attention. Today I called Clarissa to let her know that I had the MRI disc and she said I've already requested it from the facility. That specific attention and compassion she demonstrates makes me comfortable. It eases my anxiety. What really upset me is that she told me she is leaving the spine center. Why? She is such a rare human being. I wished her well but honestly hope they don't put Marilyn back with Dr. Burch. I'm grateful for your help Clarissa. God bless you.

I will keep my review anonymous because I love Dr. Burch but the follow up care is so challenging. I understand the administrative staff is overworked. However, I absolutely get excellent care when Carrisa Gonzales covers for Marilyn. This should be recognized. Each time Carrisa is assigned if I need something done it's handled within minutes. She's a rare gem and is good at what she does.

I just had a consult with Dr. Burch. He is an excellent communicator, and very upbeat. The time spent at UCSF, and the repetitive questions took longer than the consultation. My 10:15 appointment for which I had to arrive 1/2 hour early ended at 11:30, mostly waiting, and answering questions on the computer and in person.
