Dr. Shanti Nulu, MA

Total wait time was 65 minutes for a 5 minute consultation with Dr. Nulu. She did not seem to be aware of the purpose of my visit. My medical records that she had were not accurate. They did not show I was taking Lipitor (Lipitor dosage was discussed at visit 1 year prior to this visit). Records showed that I was a smoker (I have never smoked). There was no female present while a male assistant attached EKG pads. She had no bedside manner. Biggest concern was that she did not know what a Boston Heart Lab was. I had to explain it to her. Her transcriber then proceeded to give her information on the Boston Heart Lab. I would not recommend this Doctor.

Dr. Shanti Nulu (Seton Austin on-call cardiologist) HUNG UP ON ME. It’s Black Friday and the office is closed. The office did not return 2 messages left at 1:30pm 2 days prior. My dad takes blood thinners and requires clearance by a professional as to when to cease/resume Coumadin/Lovonox leading up to a scheduled biopsy on Friday. Our call was 3 minutes and 2 minutes of the call was spent by Dr.Nulu explaining she doesn’t have my dads records (totally a LIE), was not solid on her instructions and said “I THINK he should stop Coumadin 5 days before”, did not allow me to write down the schedule, refused to give me exact dates, said she doesn’t have staff, call the office when they open back up on Monday, told me “I have an emergency, figure it out, stop Coumadin 5 days before and start Lovonox 2 days after and happy holidays”, and HUNG UP. Before being hung-up on, I asked her to call me back after the emergency. She indicated she’d try. I suggested having another cardiologist… call and she said she’s the only on-call doctor and would try and again. She repeated to explain the office would open back up on Monday, happy holidays and HUNG UP ON ME. Shanti, you deserve this bad review and I hope it deters patients from hiring you as their cardiologist. There was absolutely no reason I had to explain the effects of this med, nor should I had to ask you for exact dates on administering the meds. You spent so much valuable time making up excuses, being inpatient, ugly and will have to explain to Dr. Fo why we are no longer going to see her and any other Seton Ascencion cardiologist as long as you are in their circle of practice. It’s a sad, sad loss that the long-term relationship my father, my sisters and Dr. Fotini Chalkias had will terminate because of a 3-minute phone call that you did not handle well. Why would we want to risk you being on the other end of the line in another on-call situation. You may be a cardiologist, but you will never soar if you continue the NON-BEDSIDE MANNER that you so excel at. Shanti, If Seton never reads this, take my advice and sign up for ongoing Physician Communication Etiquette and call me back to see if you pass. Thanks for your no-help and thanks for ruining my “happy holidays”.

I went concerned about the negative reviews, but she was the earliest cardiologist I could get into. I was pleased I was taken in before my appt time and the medical assistant did all the preliminary updating of my Seton file , did my vitals and an EKG. Very pleasant man. Only a few minutes before Dr Nulu came in. Very personable, attentive and thorough in her questions. As a nurse myself I know what good care is. She diagnosed my problem, but then talked about the need to find a cause. Her recommendations and her explanations were thorough. I only have basic cardiac knowledge, so it was great that she explained everything. The office staff was personable and made all my test appointments within the time frame I needed. Great Visit..will recommend

My experience with Dr. Nulu is as follows: I waited over 40 minutes AFTER my allotted appointment to be seen. She spent less than five minutes in the room with me and didn't seem focused on our conversation at any point during those five minutes. After the visit, I noticed that my medical history information, including information relevant to my purpose for seeing Dr. Nulu, was incomplete. Also, I was given a referral for other testing and found out a week later (when the other provider had not yet called me to schedule that testing) that the referral had not been sent to the other provider by Dr. Nulu/her office. Finally, I've left three different messages with various staff regarding a question I have and 72-hours later, I have not received a return call with an answer, follow-up, etc. I WON'T be returning to this doctor, nor would I recommend her.

Dr. Nulu listens to what you have to say and cares about your concerns. She is knowledgeable and a good communicator. Most doctor's talk AT you, but she doesn't. And you don't have to wait a month to get in to see her either. So glad to have her as our doctor!

This Doctor is so rude and not compassionate at all . I would not recommend seeing her.
