Dr. Sharath Chandra Raja, MD

I have had my AMD treated by Dr. Sharath Raja for a year now and my sight has improved as much as I could hope for. At first I was more than a little nervous about getting injections into my eye. However, after the first visit with Dr. Raja my anxiety level decreased by 70% and by the 3rd visit I was totally relaxed. I now find the treatment process to be no more uncomfortable than having my teeth cleaned! In fact, the injection is very quick and pain free. Dr. Raja is extremely skilled and his manner is very comforting. If you need a Retina or Vitreous Physician I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Sharath Raja! Bob R.

Key for me as his patient is one of total trust. I have suffered numerous eye problems and he has patiently work with me for correction. I really do npt know how dr. raja can have any time to himself. He is overloaded with patients but does not give you the impression he does not have time for you..a very humane man

I had an implant that needed removal. I had met with the surgeon who had installed the implant, but he was dismissive to my concerns and made me feel like I was overreacting. At that time, I had lost my insurance and could not afford another visit to that particular surgeon. I tried living with my failing implant for as long as I could (as I still don't have insurance), but when it started becoming unbearable, I found The Retina and Vitreous consultants, who scheduled me with Dr. Raja. The two secretaries I spoke with were super understanding and when I explained why I wanted to see a doctor, they took my concerns seriously and I was scheduled for an appointment less than one week out. When I finally met Dr. Raja, he told me I could not wait any longer and the surgery was scheduled for that following week. I was shocked, but for better or worse, it was a relief that someone had finally validated the concerns and fears I had about my implant. He was super duper nice and… really comforted me when I basically broke down in front of him. His nurse, Susan, is also super awesome and she talked with me at length, too, after the first meeting--I really felt that everyone there had tons of compassion for what their patients are going though. The surgery went smoothly and the nurses went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and prepared for the procedure. Apparently everything went well, and my eye is healing very quickly. Dr. Raja did an outstanding job and I don't know if I can sing praises of him highly enough. After the surgery, he refused to take my payment, which was the biggest surprise of all! I've never personally known of that happening before. Hearing that was probably the most amazing thing about this whole experience. What I went through with my implant leading up to this surgery was a very scary time in my life, but I'm so happy that I can finally put it all behind me, thanks wholly to Dr. Raja and his fantastic team. I don't think I've ever met another doctor with such compassion for his patients. He really did change my life. Thank you so much, Dr. Raja! You are a tremendous person.

The experience of working with Dr. Sharath Raja and his staff that took one year and two months was good. I had a complicated problem with three retinal detachments that need five surgeries. He is an excellent physician he listens intently to the patient, answers all questions clearly and with kindness, and shows the patient respect. Second, his staff must take their cues from his good example and the excellent example and leadership of his primary nurse assistant and manager. She too treats patients with kindness and respect. In a bad situation, it was a pleasant experience. In over a year and a couple of months, I had only one unpleasant encounter with one staff member. Other than that one time, the staff was helpful, kind, respectful, and efficient.

Outstanding retinal surgeon who handled my very complex problem that other surgeons had tried with great skill and compassion. He is the best.
