Dr. Sharon Parnes has the following 2 specialties

  • Child Neurology

Pediatric neurologists diagnose neurological conditions in children as young as newborn, all the way up to adolescence. They can recommend treatment for sleep disorders, head injuries and headaches, but they also specialize in issues such as epilepsy, seizures and brain tumors.
Their expertise in childhood development and the nervous system make them an excellent resource for parents of children with autism, cerebral palsy, mental development issues or learning disabilities. You can consult with a pediatric neurologist before, during and after diagnosis depending on your child's specific condition and needs.

  • Pediatrics

A pediatrician is a doctor who specializes in the regular care of children, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of illness in children. Young patients are often more complicated to treat because they are still growing and developing.
While pediatricians may sub-specialize in specific therapy areas like oncology, surgery, ophthalmology, and anesthesiology, in general, pediatricians provide services like vaccinations, health exams, and treatment of common ailments and injuries. In addition, pediatricians are trained to handle the complex emotional and behavioral issues faced by children, especially during puberty.
Pediatricians normally see their patients from birth until the age of 18, although some may agree to treat patients into their early 20s, if requested.

The Best...

Dr Parnes treated my child as her neurologist for many years....she is outstanding and is very down to earth! She knows her stuff and returns phone calls immediately...and if there were labs will get a call with results the minute she gets them in.....and she is fabulous with her very kind, calm child has seizures AND is a special needs child....she never ever even was phased by my childs other medical issues, and she talks to the child not as if the child isn't there like alot of doctors......we only stopped going to her because we moved out of state far away...otherwise we would still have her.....anyone who has her is very very fortunate...she's a wonderful doctor and person!

A wonderful, caring physician

Dr. Sharon Parnes was our daughter's neurologist in Ottawa, Canada in 1989 when our daughter was diagnosed with infantile spasms. She was empathetic, knowledgeable, intelligent and patient in her treatment and care of our daughter and in her communications with us. She took special interest in our daughter's condition and ultimately was responsible for referring our daughter to UCLA where further testing was conducted. As a result, our daughter received pioneering brain surgery in Toronto. Her seizures have stopped and her quality of life has greatly improved. Our family is hugely indebted to Dr. Parnes.
